Juicy Hollywood Tidbits – April 20, 2007

Brandy Exits “America’s Got Talent” Did you watch NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” last year? If so, you may remember the judges were David Hasselhoff, Piers Morgan, and R&B singer Brandy. The host of the show was Regis Philbin, but it has already been announced that Jerry Springer, not Regis will be the host for next season. Now it appears that only judges David and Piers will be returning for season two. Brandy has announced that she will not be back for season two and will be replaced by reality tv star Sharon Obbourne. Brandy is still facing vehicular homicide charges … Continue reading

Disney’s Wild Hogs Come in First!

Disney does it again! Its new release “Wild Hogs” opened as this week’s top grossing movie in the US. Of course, with a main male line-up headed by John Travolta, and also starring William H. Macy, Tim Allen and Martin Lawrence, it was bound to be a success! Each of the actors plays a character that is different from the other, and yet they all have something in common – a need to escape the object of their perceived failure, namely women! For me, John Travolta is always going to be one of two types of guy – the playful … Continue reading

Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen

Lindsay Lohan stars in “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen,” the story of a girl named Mary who whom life is just too boring. She craves adventure and excitement, to the point where she’ll create the reality she wants if it doesn’t exist. She’s even changed her name, requesting to be known as Lola. When she moves to a small town from her home in New York City, she expects to be at least somewhat popular. After all, she’s from the big city, she has the right clothes, and it’s to be expected, right? But she’s very wrong. Her new … Continue reading

What is Up with Barbra Streisand?

I will be the first to admit that Barbra Streisand is very, very talented. In this day and age of “stars” like Lindsay Lohan, Barbra is a throwback to a time when the truly talented could both act and sing. But one thing I have never liked is her liberal political point of view. I appreciate her zeal, but I wish celebrities would realize that when they mix their personal convictions with their professional life, they might suffer consequences. She has had two run-ins with fans in the last month due to her political views. In early October, she appeared … Continue reading

Emilio Estevez in Love

If you were alive during the 80s (and even if you weren’t) you may remember Emilio Estevez best as wrestler Andy Clark in The Breakfast Club. He was the typical jock in a movie that served as a high school microcosm of teenage angst. Emilio was officially a member of what was dubbed the Brat Pack, a group of young actors noted for starring together in movies that would forever define a decade. However, being a member of the Brat Pack did not come without some backlash. In the days before Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan ruled Hollywood nightlife, the … Continue reading

William H. Macy Sets Lindsay Lohan Straight

I think of William H. Macy as an actor’s actor. He seems to be able to play any character role given to him. From Dr. David Morgenstern as the head of the emergency room in “ER” to the bumbling loser Jerry Lundegaard in Fargo (for which he received an Academy Award nomination), William H. Macy has always not only met my acting expectations, but exceeded them. He is a consummate actor. Now he is lashing out at a young star that seems to have lost her way. At the end of last month, I wrote a blog about Lindsay Lohan … Continue reading
