Why I Feel Sorry for Jennifer Love Hewittby Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 03 Dec 2007 11:11 AM Here's why: Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt should be enjoying one of the most momentous occasions of her life, but instead she's being forced to defend the size of her butt. It's no joke. The 28-year-old actress just got engaged to her Scottish actor boyfriend Ross McCall (he costarred in the 2001 HBO miniseries Band of Brothers). But, rather than sit back and admire her antique engagement ring, which has been in Ross' family for more than 100 years, "The Ghost Whisper" star has turned to the Internet to discuss some unflattering pictures taken of her by paparazzi while on a Hawaiian getaway with her new fiancé. Long story short Hewitt, dressed in a black bikini, wades out in the Hawaiian surf and photographers start snapping away at her backside. (See the photos here.) For some reason the pictures become the talk of the Internet (apparently, mass quantities of looky-loos are interested in staring at the former "Party of Five" star's rear) and hundreds of thousands of hits are recorded on sites showing off Hewitt's assets. The pictures cause such a commotion that the newly engaged actress felt it necessary to address the matter in her own blog. What she wrote may surprise you: "Like all women out there should, I love my body. I know what I look like, and so do my friends and family. I've sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women's bodies are constantly scrutinized. To set the record straight, I'm not upset for me, but for all of the girls out there that are struggling with their body image." Remember, Hewitt is a model and spokesperson for Hanes underwear and has been photographed wearing her skivvies in national ads for the company on numerous occasions. In her blog Hewitt adds, "A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn't make you beautiful. ... To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini - put it on and stay strong." I really do feel sorry for Jennifer Love Hewitt. Not because of what the pictures show and not because she felt it necessary to address a situation that took on a life of its own, but because from here on out whenever she recalls the Hawaiian getaway she took with her future husband--the one taken specifically to celebrate one of the most special occasions of her life--she will always be reminded of the fact that her butt made more waves than her newly acquired status of bride-to-be. I think she provided a good example for girls and women who aspire to a ridiculous idea of what true beauty is. I say 3 cheers for JLH!! And congrats on the engagement - he's a nice bit of crumpet. ;-) Michele Cheplic (37236) 04 Dec 2007 02:16 PMI didn't think her butt looked that big... maybe by Hollywood standards, but not in "real life." Libby Pelham (12866) 04 Dec 2007 02:26 PMI feel sorry for her, but I guess that is all part of the price you pay for fame. Remember when Julie Roberts was caught with hair armpits and that picture (ew) was splashed all over the magazines? I guess if you are a celeb you need to either suffer the backlash with class like Jennifer did or cover it up so they can't photograph it. Michele Cheplic (37236) 04 Dec 2007 03:28 PMIt's funny Libby b/c I saw a recent pic of her in a swimsuit with a towel wrapped around her waist---maybe she's taking your advice.
