Katie Couric Scores First Interview with Hudson River Hero Pilot

Take that Matt Lauer! Less than a month after her former “Today” show co-anchor was scheduled to do a live interview with Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot who guided U.S. Airways Flight 1549 to that safe Hudson River landing, Katie Couric has swooped in and scored a huge coup. Score one for CBS. According to network execs, Couric plans to travel to Charlotte, North Carolina tomorrow to interview Sullenberger and his crew, who by the way, just appeared live at the Super Bowl in Tampa. Sullenberger, his co-pilot and two female flight attendants stood on the field at Raymond James … Continue reading

Baby Blog Month in Review: August 2008

Isn’t it crazy the way babies grow so quickly? It seems that you just get used to one stage and boom they are already into another. Tonight, were busy getting the household all set for my eldest child’s first day of second grade. My two younger ones are excited and want to start school, too. It will be a busy month. Don’t worry about the missing last week of blogs. I’ve gotten quite a few questions about where I have been. The Baby Blog tends to go on hiatus the last week of the month. That may change in the … Continue reading

Katie Headed For Iraq

Just a few weeks shy of celebrating her first anniversary as “CBS Evening News” anchor–Katie Couric is ditching the desk and heading for Iraq. In what network insiders are calling an “ambitious reporting trip,” Couric leaves today for the war torn country. She is scheduled to anchor the “CBS Evening News” from Baghdad next Tuesday and Wednesday, then from Damascus on Thursday and Friday. This will be the first time Couric will be reporting from the region. She is the second major network anchor to travel to Iraq since ABC News’ Bob Woodruff was nearly killed by a roadside bomb … Continue reading

All About Katie

I’ll admit I have written quite a number of blogs about Katie Couric. Most of them were penned in the days following her historic move to the “CBS Evening News.” Next month will mark Couric’s first anniversary at the CBS anchor desk and wouldn’t you know that her big day is being marred by the publication of a new book that allegedly paints the peppy former “Today” show queen in a very unflattering light. Talk about timing. It’s no secret that Couric has faced a ton of criticism in the last few months. Rating for her show have tanked since … Continue reading

Katie’s Popularity Nosedive

I hate when critics turn out to be right. Hordes of them lined up to voice their negativity when Katie Couric decided to leave her cushy job at NBC’s “Today” show to take the quantum leap of becoming the first female solo anchor of a nightly news program. That was nearly 10 months ago… and now it seems their taunts may becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. According to a new Gallup Poll survey, one-third of Americans say they have a negative view of Katie Couric. What’s more, those same people say Couric’s personal popularity lags behind rivals Charles Gibson and Brian … Continue reading

Fashion Trends—Would You Wear It?

It’s that time of the week again… time for another edition of “Fashion Trends—Would You Wear It?” A blog dedicated to the latest trends modeled by Hollywood’s elite. Recently, I have been adding at least one trend that I would actually shell out money for, though as regular readers of this blog know I am a bit conservative, so super short skirts, belly baring shirts and fingerless fishnet gloves never score well with me (though they may with you). In keeping with tradition here are a few recent fashion trends as made popular by stars and their friends, included is … Continue reading

Top 5 Fashion Trends—Would You Wear It?

Fashion Week continues in New York City and celebrities are out in full force showing their support for their favorite designers. Last night, Barbara Walters and U.S. Open champion Roger Federer made appearances at the Oscar de la Renta show. While Courtney Cox, Carmen Electra, and other Hollywood stars have traveled east to be a part of the fashion frenzy. But, what about us—the millions of stay-and-work-at-home-moms who just try to make it through the day without anyone noticing the jelly and cheetos fingerprint stains on our shirts? When it’s time to change out of your “uniform” what do you … Continue reading

Katie’s Big Week

Looks like the hype paid off. Katie Couric’s historic debut as the first female solo anchor of a nightly newscast hit the mark. At least that’s what the ratings show. As for her performance reviews—well, it seems everyone’s a critic. Four days after one of the most talked-about debuts in television history Couric is sitting on top of the heap. Opening night she blasted the competition. According to Neilsen Media Research, nearly 13.6 million people watched Couric’s debut–that’s nearly double the average audience for the “CBS Evening News” last week, and the program’s biggest audience since February 16, 1998, in … Continue reading

What Will Katie Wear?

It seems like just yesterday that Katie Couric was bidding adieu to fans on what would be her last day as host of NBC’s “Today” show. Now we are just hours away from her debut in the history making role as the first female solo anchor of a nightly news program. It’s being called it “the most talked-about debut of the fall television season” and CBS couldn’t be happier. In preparation for Couric’s debut on the “CBS Evening News,” the network gutted its newsroom on Manhattan’s West Side this summer and built a new one that houses Couric’s set. In … Continue reading

Puberty Can Be Emotionally Overwhelming to Adolescents

Parents may have forgotten what it was like to go through puberty. According to Psychology Today writer David Schwartz LMFT, puberty can be emotionally overwhelming to adolescents. Your tween or teen may be experiencing emotional difficulty as their body changes. According to David Schwarts LMFT, adolescents start to experience a whole new world of feelings when they reach puberty.
