What To Believe? Fans Duped By Britney and Kevin?by Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 24 Oct 2006 02:35 PM There's an old saying: "Don't believe everything you read." I suppose I should have known better when I read more than a month ago that Britney Spears and Kevin Federline named their new baby boy Sutton Pierce that perhaps, the choice was well... not official. After all, in a move straight out of the Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes parenting handbook, we have not seen a single shot of the newest member of the Federline clan. Nor have we heard a peep out of either parent regarding the birth of their now six-week-old son. So, why should we have believed that this unseen Federline was named Sutton Pierce? We shouldn't have... because it seems the child's actual name is Jayden James Federline. PEOPLE magazine obtained a copy of the baby's birth certificate filed at the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder's office and nowhere on the paper does the name Sutton Pierce appear. According to the birth certificate, Jayden James was born at 1:11 a.m. on September 12th at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The magazine claims it originally reported the child's name was Sutton Pierce a few days after his birth because sources close to the couple told a reporter that was the name his parent's chose. PEOPLE says, "There is no official explanation for the change." But, my feeling is that there was no "change." Rather, my feeling is that the "sources" didn't know what they were talking about. OR, they knew exactly what they were doing in spreading the "rumor" that the baby's name was Sutton when it was actually Jayden. There was much speculation long before the baby was born that Spears deliberately chose the name Sutton Pierce so that the new baby could share his older brother, Sean Preston's initials. I read multiple articles about how Spears was overjoyed that she didn't have to change the nursery (which was decorated with large stenciling of SPF) and the child could wear his brother's hand-me-downs with ease. After reading those articles I wondered why a star with money to burn would care that her second child would be able to get use out of his older sibling's wardrobe. So, now you know--it is official: Jayden James is the name on record for Spears and Federline's second child. Now we can get on with our lives and wonder why anyone cares.
