Was She Ever Really Pregnant?

I realize that Nicole Kidman has Amazon woman height, but I can't get over how thin she looked at six months pregnant. And at seven months she barely appeared as though she had passed the four-month mark.

So I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to hear that she has already returned to her pre-baby weight less than two weeks after giving birth to her daughter Sunday Rose. I am however, a bit taken aback by the news that just four days after going through labor for the first time ever and extracting a 6 lb., 7.5 oz. baby, Kidman was out and about in Nashville lunching with two friends at a local organic restaurant.

According to reports, the actress laughed with friends as she munched on chicken salad dressed in skinny jeans and a denim jacket. What's more, the report includes quotes from witnesses who say Kidman looked "happy, relaxed and well rested."

Huh?

What was in that chicken salad?

Think about how you were looking and feeling four days after you gave birth to your first child.

Forget about looking "well rested" I don't even think I could even see straight on day four. As for venturing out to lunch with my friends two days after leaving the hospital--puhleeze! I don't even think I got out of my bathrobe during my first week home from the hospital. And don't even get me started on how long it took me to drop the baby weight--suffice it to say it was much longer than 10 days.

Keith Urban, (a.k.a. Mrs. Kidman) mentioned on his website that the happily married couple were operating without the help of nannies (though the actress' mother and sister were in town for Sunday's birth) and the former Mrs. Tom Cruise does have experience with infants (her daughter Bella, 15, and son Connor, 13 were adopted as babies), but not for nothing, Kidman is 41 years old.

In my opinion fatigue does not discriminate. You could be 26 and still be wiped out caring for a newborn.

So how is Kidman getting it all done? Giving birth to a nearly 7-pound baby without really showing, taking care of a newborn while still socializing with friends, getting the grocery shopping done and fitting into her skinny jeans?

Either she's superhuman or this whole baby thing was a big conspiracy.

What's your take?

Well my sister didn't show until late into her seventh month and then she wasn't that large, she is very slim too, baby wasn't small either. She didn't gain any weight and never needed any maternity clothes, my mum was the same way though. She had her baby at home so there was no need for a hospital visit, she spent the day resting then went back to how she normally is. Remember there is no need to over eat or gain any weight during pregnancy, so I don't see why it's so unusual that a woman remained healthy during pregnancy.

With my first I went out to eat the day I left the hospital and I was well rested because she was in the NICU...so I had nothing to do but go visit her and sleep alot....We went out to eat the day we left (she left with me) because I was starving and hospital food isn't that great. I however have yet to lose the weight 22 months later!!!!

Well, Nicole is 41 - she may have had gestational diabetes and been on a special diet. I was and only gained 25 pounds (of which almost 7 was Will). Didn't take long to lose it - of course, I was a bit overweight to begin with and didn't lose anymore of that, but the pregnancy weight fell off quickly :-)

I have gone grocery shopping the day I came home from the hospital with every birth. . .even the twins. Hmmm. . .I don't look like Nicole Kidman though so I doubt anyone would say I looked "well rested or beautiful". LOL

I'm a cheerleading coach and two days after my daughter was born, we were both at cheerleading practice! I had her on 10/30, got released on 11/1 at noon and was at practice that night at 6:30pm :-D

You wouldnt have known I was pregnant at all with my first daughter unless i actually lifted my shirt up and you could see my belly. I only gained 10lbs with her, 15 with my second

I don't look like Nicole Kidman either, but I was rather slender (size 4) and with my first and second, I gained less than 25 lbs and was back in pre-pregnancy wardrobe upon leaving the hospital. I think for some women this is perfectly normal, especially those who are in the public eye and make the effort to look their best because they know all eyes are on them.

Hmm... remind me never to write about my pregnancy experiences again ;-)

Thanks for the comments ladies--you all are an inspiration.

Okay, okay, I guess she really did give birth...

LOL Nay--I have a picture crazy husband. ;-)

Of course, by baby No.5 I suspect you cherished your time out of the house--no matter what the errand and no matter how long it had been since you had given birth. I don't blame you. Nothing like a little fresh New York City air to get you going. LOL!

Each birth story and recovery is different--lesson learned!

Samual, there's no need to overeat or gain weight during pregnancy? You do realize that the woman's blood volume increases dramatically during pregnancy, just to keep the baby alive, and that accounts for weight gain right there. Not to mention water weight, which is also somewhat necessary. Additionally, the mother's body needs all the nutrients it can possibly get, so while she shouldn't overdo on desserts, she does need to consume quite a few calories, especially those that come from iron and protein containing foods such as meats and cheeses. If she doesn't gain enough weight, she and her baby could suffer serious health risks.
