Wanda Sykes Comes Out of the Closet

Comedian Wanda Sykes, who currently appears in the sitcom “The New Adventures of the Old Christine,” has admitted that she is gay in response to California’s Proposition 8 being passed. If you don’t know, Proposition 8 amended the California state constitution to prohibit same-sex couples from marrying. United Nations Passes Historic Resolution

This past Friday, the United Nations (U.N.) passed a ground breaking resolution – for equal rights for everyone, including those in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) community. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State International Organizations Suzanne Nossel called it “a key part in setting a new norm that gay rights are human rights and that that has to be accepted globally.” President Barack Obama called it a “significant milestone in the long struggle for [LGBT] equality.” The resolution was introduced by South Africa. A Review of the 81st Academy Awards – Part 1

Well, the big day is over for another year…sigh. But, at least I have today to relieve everything! I really thought the Academy Awards ceremony was good this year. They tried to mix it up a big due to sagging ratings. Hugh Jackman certainly put on a show, but then I guess he had plenty of practice hosting the Tony Awards three times.
