VH1 Adds More Celebreality Shows

I have always loved VH1 for bringing us such sinfully entertaining reality shows as “Flavor of Love” and “The Surreal Life.” Well, if you loved those, get prepared for two more: “Scott Baio is 45…and Single” and “Rock of Love.” You probably remember Scott Baio as cute little Chachi Arcola, Fonz’s cousin on “Happy Days.” Scott played Chachi on the long running show from 1977 until 1984. If you are too young to remember that, then you probably have fond memories of Scott in the leading role of “Charles in Charge.” He acted in that sitcom from 1984 until 1990. … Continue reading

Rocker Bret Michaels in Critical Condition

If you have watched any of his reality shows (“Rock of Love” and “Celebrity Apprentice”), you are probably aware that rocker Bret Michaels is a Type 1 diabetic. Having had several friends that were Type 1 diabetics, I know that this disease can really do a lot of damage to your health. In one of the last episode of “Celebrity Apprentice,” Michaels was upset because the doctors feared his young daughter was a diabetic as well and he knew how tough it would be if she was. And while Michaels has appeared healthy on this season’s “Celebrity Apprentice,” his health … Continue reading

The Joaquin Phoenix Circus Continues while Bret Michaels Opens Up

Joaquin Phoenix is in the news again and as you might suspect, it is not in a good way. The actor turned rapper has puzzled everyone with his new bizarre personality and looks, but no one really seems to know if it is all an act or just a frightening public breakdown a la Britney. Phoenix was performing at the Fountainbleau’s LIV nightclub in Miami Wednesday night when he experienced a heckler (and if you’ve hear his “music,” that is completely understandable!). It was around 2 a.m. when Phoenix, who had exchanged barbs with the heckler, decided to take matters … Continue reading

Weekend Weddings–Scott Baio FINALLY Ties the Knot

So much for being 45 and single. Producers of “Scott Baio is 45… and Single” need to change the title of the reality TV series. Because now Scott Baio is 46… and married. The actor kissed his bachelor days goodbye last night when he tied the knot with longtime gal pal Renee Sloan (with whom he has an infant daughter). According to PEOPLE magazine, the former “Happy Days” star and self-proclaimed “life-long bachelor” wed Sloan during an intimate ceremony on the roof of a luxury high-rise building in Los Angeles. Ironically, the vow exchange was filmed for an episode for … Continue reading

Television News: December 7, 2007

I know what you are thinking…”But Libby, there is a writer’s strike.” But, there is still some television news out there. A couple of new shows have been announced. The Wayan Brothers, famous for their Fox show “In Living Color” and movies such as Scary Movie and White Chicks, just finished a comedy pilot for VH1. The show, titled “The Life and times of Marcus “Felony” Brown,” will be about an on the rise rapper, played by Darius McCrary. He moves to LA with his entourage, hype mand E-Z, manager Cash, and bodyguard Tiny. The pilot was just filmed in … Continue reading

Television News – August 28, 2007

Scott Baio Sticks with VH1 Scott Baio’s longest relationship just may be with VH1. The notoriously marriage shy Baio has agreed to a second season of his VH1 show “Scott Baio is 45…And Single.” Actually, at the end of the first season, after working with life coach Doc Ali, Scott asked his girlfriend Renee to marry him. Renee had a surprise of her own – she is pregnant. So it seems as if this Hollywood confirmed bachelor is not only going to get married, but be a daddy as well. The second season of the show will concentrate on Scott … Continue reading

Brigitte Neilsen – Sober and Happy

While the news of Lindsay Lohan’s relapse is upsetting, there is another celebrity who is touting her sobriety – former Red Sonja actress turned reality star Brigitte Nielsen. Red Sonja wasn’t my kind of movie, but I did become a bit of a Brigitte fan when she married one of my favorite actors, Sylvester Stallone. That romance went down like in flames like an F-14, but The Great Dane kept busy with her career, appearing mainly soon forgotten films, made for tv movies, and recording music. But, once she decided to star in the Surreal Life, she found a second … Continue reading

This Week in Television – July 9, 2007

Tonight, the “World Series of Pop Culture” returns to VH1. In case you haven’t seen it, the “World Series of Pop Culture” is a game show tournament that features – what else? – pop culture questions. Teams compete against each other for the final prize – $250,000! The show is made up of rounds. Each team must send one player and he or she must attempt to answer all the questions in that round. What type of categories do they have? Stuff that I consider fun like “Family TV,” “1980s Teen Comedy Films,” “Tom Cruise Movies,” “1990s Lyrics,” “Fictional Locales,” … Continue reading
