Dina Lohan Sounds Off on Daughter Lindsay

What chance does a wayward child star have when his or her mother is seemingly delusional? In case you’ve missed it, Lindsay Lohan has been on a downward spiral in the most Britney Spears type of way. Lohan was Miley Cyrus before Miley Cyrus was Miley Cyrus. After a stint as a successful child model, Lohan starred in 1998’s Parent Trap and won the Young Artist Award and became a darling of Disney. Disney signed her to three more films and respected film critic Roger Ebert said Lohan had a “Jodie Foster sort of seriousness and intent focus” about her. … Continue reading

Bret Michaels’ Health, Lindsay Lohan’s Troubles and R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio

Rocker Bret Michaels suffered another health setback this week. He was readmitted to the hospital after suffering numbness on the left side of his body. Doctors called it a “warning stroke” and further tests revealed a hole in his heart. It is not believed that either of these issues is related to his recent brain hemorrhage. The good news is both conditions are treatable. Michaels’ rep Jann Elias said the rocker was walking and talking and going to rehab daily. Michaels had hoped to appear on next Sunday’s “Celebrity Apprentice” finale against fellow finalist Holly Robinson Peete. But, doctors are … Continue reading

Getting Axed in Hollywood—-Lindsay, Anne, and “The Sopranos”

So much for getting into the mind of a menace… At this point the role wouldn’t be a stretch for derailed actress Lindsay Lohan, but alas, studio bosses thought the risk for them would be far too significant. According to reports, Lohan has been axed as the star of an upcoming biopic of murderer Charles Manson. The repeat rehabber had signed on to play Nancy Pittman – a member of Manson’s “family” – in the independent film “Manson Girls.” That was more than a month ago. Now, reports say Lohan’s contract has been cancelled because studio big wigs fear the … Continue reading

New Gigs for Lindsay, Fred and Simon

Don’t call it a comeback… I would, but Lindsay Lohan might not take kindly to reference in regards to her acting career. Fresh off her stint in the murderous movie “Chapter 27,” the 21-year-old rehab queen has just confirmed that she will be starring in the new flick “Manson Girls.” E! Online is reporting that Lohan will play one of Manson’s cult followers, Nancy Pitman. Her new gig is in addition to her work recording a new album and costarring in the upcoming Jack Black movie, “Ye Olde Times.” Now that his run for the president is over Fred Thompson … Continue reading

William H. Macy Sets Lindsay Lohan Straight

I think of William H. Macy as an actor’s actor. He seems to be able to play any character role given to him. From Dr. David Morgenstern as the head of the emergency room in “ER” to the bumbling loser Jerry Lundegaard in Fargo (for which he received an Academy Award nomination), William H. Macy has always not only met my acting expectations, but exceeded them. He is a consummate actor. Now he is lashing out at a young star that seems to have lost her way. At the end of last month, I wrote a blog about Lindsay Lohan … Continue reading

Trouble on the Set for Lindsay Lohan

I am pretty tired of seeing Lindsay Lohan in the tabloids. Lindsay is having a fight with Paris, Lindsay is falling down the stairs at Bryan Adam’s London home, Lindsay is back with on-again off-again boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, Lindsay is anorexic. It seems no matter what she does, the tabloids have something to say about it. They especially seem to enjoy writing about bad behavior – Lindsay ignored a fan’s request for an autograph, she was underage drinking at a bar, she partied late into the night and missed a day of filming. Much of it may just be fodder … Continue reading

Pop Culture Roundup – September 19, 2010

I hate to say I told you so, but…I told you so. Yesterday, we learned that newly sprung jailbird Lindsay Lohan had failed a drug test. This comes less than a month after her early release from rehab. Lohan herself was the one that leaked the news about the failed test, tweeting “Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result.” Lohan also said, “This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and … Continue reading

What is Up with Mel Gibson?

Remember a few years ago when Mel Gibson released the film The Passion of the Christ in 2004? There was a lot of controversy that surrounded the film, with some accusing Gibson of being anti-semantic. But, the film was hugely successful and it didn’t seem to harm Gibson’s career. In July 2006, Gibson was arrested for DUI. That in and of itself wasn’t really surprising – he had had trouble with alcohol in the past. But, after the arrest, it was reported that Gibson told the officer who arrested him, James Mee, who was a Jew, that “Jews are responsible … Continue reading

Stars Branching Out… In Places We Don’t Want Them

If I have to hear about one more Hollywood celeb who has decided to “branch out” into the world of fashion I might just hurl all over my pleather JLo coat. I’m kidding about having the coat… not about hurling. So I’m not sure what to do about my lunch given the fact that actress Lindsay Lohan has just announced that she is interested in launching her own perfume line. The 21-year-old free spirit says she wants to follow in the footsteps of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and JLo and come up with a scent that is uniquely her own. … Continue reading

The New Face of…

Singing, dancing, and starring on the big screen is simply not enough if you want to remain hot in Hollywood these days. Apparently, when you are not hitting your mark on a movie set you need to be strutting your stuff as the new face of some hip, hot fashion brand. Just ask the following Hollywood fashionistas: GWYNETH PALTROW You can catch her steaming up the screen in this summer’s “Iron Man” and when she is not turning up the heat on the red carpet Gwyneth Paltrow is hard at work at her new job—acting as the face of luxury … Continue reading
