He was the older, untouchable senior who made sophomore girls swoon and never had a steady girlfriend because, well, he didn't have to. With so little of him to go around it wasn't prudent for him to commit to a single female. Then, one day it happened. Stud muffin got a girlfriend and she turned out to be the equivalent of America Ferrera's character on ABC's "Ugly Betty." That's when his stock plummeted and tongues started wagging. That's about the only analogy I can come up with to describe the most recent jaw-dropping hook up between 36-year-old seven-time Tour de France champ Lance Armstrong and 21-year-old twin phenom Ashley Olsen. Oh man, say it ain't so. According to two prominent New York newspapers, the elite athlete and the former "Full House" star showed up at a trendy Big Apple nightclub Monday night. They reportedly came together with a group of friends, but it wasn't long before the two were caught making out in front of club patronages before being snapped by paparazzi leaving together at bar time. Cough, wheeze. Michelle Tanner and Lance Armstrong? What is this world coming to? Regular readers of this blog know that I have willingly admitted that Armstrong (in my opinion) is hot. While I disagree with his decision to divorce the woman who gave birth to his three children, and still can't figure out why he would dump Sheryl Crow after proposing to her, I maintained that Armstrong was a stellar athlete (and quite handsome) and any decision he made in regards to his love life didn't take away from that fact. I even managed to stomach the news that he was dating fashion designer Tory Burch (whom he later split with because she wanted to get married and he didn't). But to digest this latest bit of gossip... honestly, I have no words. Okay, maybe I have a few. To say these two are an odd couple is an understatement. Armstrong is reportedly in town this week to run the New York Marathon. Meanwhile, Olsen jet sets between both coasts and is not seeing anyone exclusively so why shouldn't they "have fun" together? Two words: Fifteen years. That's the age difference between the retired cyclist and the quasi-college student. Need a more riveting visual? Consider this--the same year Armstrong graduated from high school in Texas, Olsen was learning how to walk on national TV. Actually, truth be told, the age difference is the least of what makes me shudder when I think of these two together. What do you make of the coupling?
