Celebrity Updates: Ian and Harry—REJECTS!

Frankly, I didn’t even know he was a serious contender. (Actually, I didn’t even know he was in the running at all.) But, according to former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star Ian Ziering, he was stunned to hear Drew Carey beat him out for “The Price Is Right” gig. “I guess I was a little disappointed,” Ziering, recently told reporters. “I was really kind of hoping that would happen. Sure, he did a fairly decent job recently lighting up the floor on last season’s “Dancing with the Stars,” but I’m not sure knowing how to shake your groove qualifies a person … Continue reading

Celebrities On The Move: Drew Moves To “Price Is Right” and Campbell Jumps Ship To CNN

It’s official… well, almost. Comic Drew Carey has confirmed that he will be replacing game show legend Bob Barker in the fall. Carey spilled the beans during a taping of the “Late Show with David Letterman.” The deal puts to end the massive amounts of speculation regarding who would fill Barker’s shoes at the CBS daytime game show “The Price is Right.” Several months ago 83-year-old Barker announced he would be retiring, that opened the floodgates regarding who would be selected as the popular show’s new host. The front-runner (at least for a while) seemed to be outspoken talk show … Continue reading

Rosie a Successor to Bob Barker?

Michele and I have written many blogs about Bob Barker ending his successful run on “The Price is Right.” After all, as Bob has said, he is 83 and wants to retire before he gets too old. So the big question is…who is going to replace him? There have been all types of rumors as to who the next host might be. My favorite is Mario Lopez. That would certainly have me tuning in every day or at least setting the DVR to record the show! But, it does not seem that he is a true candidate. Michele had mentioned … Continue reading

Barker’s Return?

Stop the presses! Could all the hoopla surrounding Bob Barker’s massively hyped exit from “The Price Is Right” been for naught? Perhaps. Seems that the silver-haired host who hung up his microphone (presumably) for good just a few days ago MAY be returning to the show after all. At least temporarily. Barker recently told news reporters that he would “happily return” to the show if a replacement host isn’t found by the time the new season starts in September. “They’re having trouble finding someone to do the show,” Barker said. “And I’ve told members of the staff here that … … Continue reading

Bye-Bye Bob!

My co-blogger Libby and I share many things in common—including having grown up watching Bob Barker on “The Price Is Right.” So it is with a touch of sadness that we collectively mourn his final days on the popular TV game show. Come June 15th Bob Barker will no longer be a part of daytime TV. It is a loss that millions of Barker fans have been preparing for since the Emmy Award-winning host announced his retirement plans last year. Today has been dubbed “Black Wednesday” on the series’ set—it is the day that Barker tapes his farewell show. And … Continue reading

Bob Barker Pays To House Elephant

What’s that saying: “If you’ve got it–spend it.” While other celebrities are donating money to poor children in Africa, their alma maters, and victims of natural disasters one popular game show host is pledging hundreds of thousands of dollars to his pet cause—animals. “The Price Is Right” host Bob Barker says he will pledge $300,000 toward housing an elephant from the Los Angeles Zoo in an animal sanctuary. Barker’s publicist told news reporters the donation would match other monetary contributions made in support of sending Ruby, a 45-year-old African elephant, to a sanctuary in San Andreas in Northern California. Currently, … Continue reading

Bob Barker to Step On Down

You may remember a while back, I wrote a blog about my experience going to the perennial game show “The Price is Right.” Bob Barker is as much a piece of our pop culture as television itself. He has been on the air for 50 years, 35 alone as the host of “The Price is Right.” He has been on the show for so long, I honestly believed he would continue to be its host until he just dropped, but yesterday, he announced he would retire next June. Bob started his game show host career back in 1956 as the … Continue reading
