Emeril Gets the Boot from the Food Network

The man who is credited by many for putting the Food Network on the map is slowly being shown the door. Emeril Lagasse is leaving the Food Network’s primetime schedule, according to network execs. But the popular celebrity chef isn’t disappearing from the airwaves all together. Rather, the “BAM! Man” is headed to the Fine Living Network; a move the chef hopes will breathe new life into his beloved “Emeril Live!” The cooking show, which has been a staple on the Food Network’s primetime schedule since its 1997 debut combines cooking, music from a live band, and Lagasse’s dynamic personality. … Continue reading

Food Network BAMS Emeril and Carson Crosses the Line

One of my dad’s favorite TV shows is getting sliced, diced and dumped from the Food Network. “Emeril Live,” which has been a mainstay on the all-cooking channel for more than a decade will cease production on December 11th. However, according to network execs, the show’s star celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse, is still under contract with Food Network. Which means you’ll still see the effervescent cook BAM-ing, basting and butterflying chicken breasts, but it won’t be on the show that made him a household name. (Though, the network says reruns of “Emeril Live” will air at least until the end … Continue reading

Shopping in the Big Apple—Food and Shoes

Life should be so simple… Food and shoes, what more could a girl ask for? (Okay… diamonds, but I’m working with a budget here.) With the holidays fast approaching the streets of New York City will soon be chock full of men, women, and children on the hunt for the perfect gift. As such, I’ve decided to list a few of my favorite Big Apple haunts. I started with this blog and am slowly adding a few more as we enter the gift-giving season. The following retailers offer two items that are essential to any woman’s life—-chocolate and shoes: Jacques … Continue reading

A New Food Network Star Is Born

I had blogged before about the show “The Next Food Network Star.” I had never watched it until my husband pointed out it had a former marine as a contestant. Being a food show junkie, I decided to watch it and was immediately hooked! Last night was the big finale. It was between two women – Rory Schepisi and Amy Finley. Rory’s point of view was Real Food for Real People and Amy’s point of view was the Gourmet Next Door. The finale was actually supposed to be between Rory and Joshua Adam Garcia (JAG) as Amy was eliminated the … Continue reading

Celebrities Turned Foodies

Usually it’s the other way around. Foodies or chefs are catapulted into stardom when enough of their to die for dishes become the talk of the town. (Think celebrity chefs Rachael Ray, Bobby Flay, and Paula Deen.) Enter Justin Timberlake. The singer turned fashion designer has just added a new line to his resume–restaurant owner. Timberlake (along with a posse of his celeb pals) brought some heat to the Big Apple last night by opening his new restaurant, Southern Hospitality. As its name suggests, the new eatery features southern comfort food with an emphasis on barbecue. Timberlake says he wanted … Continue reading

If you love to travel and love to eat then I may have the perfect idea for your next vacation. Hilton Hotels has just announced it will be partnering up with the Food Network for a special promotion. Starting this week Hilton properties will be offering a Food Network Travel Package. Eating at Sea

Poor Paula Deen. Actually, rich Paula Deen. The celebrity chef was already rolling in dough, but with her recent announcement that she’s become a paid spokesperson for the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, and its diabetes drug, Victoza, Deen’s bank account is getting fatter every day. Unfortunately, the same seems to be true for the butter-loving diabetic. Just days after she made headlines for finally revealing that she’s been living with Type 2 diabetes for the past three years, TMZ posted a photo of the Food Network star chowing down on a cheeseburger and French fries while on a week-long Caribbean … Continue reading

Crazy 8s–The Lucky and the Unlucky

Clay Aiken’s new son may not be the luckiest baby in the world after all. Food Network’s Tyler Florence and his wife Tolan Clark Florence welcomed daughter Dorothy Tyler Florence on Friday, August 8th at 8:08 am as well. According to Florence’s rep, the new baby girl weighed 9 lbs and was 19 inches long. Dorothy joins big brother Hayden who is 14 months old. The celebrity chef is also dad to a 12-year-old son Miles from a previous relationship. As I mentioned in a previous blog, in China the number 8 is considered very lucky because the Chinese word … Continue reading

Paula Deen’s Famous Restaurant Almost Destroyed by Fire

You don’t need to know Food Network queen Paula Deen very well to know that her Savannah, Georgia eatery, The Lady & Sons is her pride and joy. Fans of the exuberant celebrity chef know The Lady & Sons is to Deen what “Meet the Press” was to Tim Russert. So when news spread late Sunday night that a fire was burning in her famous restaurant it’s no surprise that Deen raced down to the eatery in her bathrobe and bedroom slippers. Luckily she wasn’t met with her worst nightmare. According to fire officials, crews responded to a blaze about … Continue reading

McCain Cooking Up Controversy and “The Boss” Backs Barack

In a previous blog I discussed first lady Laura Bush’s upcoming gig as guest host on NBC’s “Today” show. Now it appears ABC is following suit by inviting Cindy McCain to join the ladies on “The View” – for a day. The wife of Republican candidate John McCain is scheduled to serve as a co-host on the daytime chatfest next Monday… and resident Republican host Elisabeth Hasselbeck couldn’t be more thrilled. Frankly, I’m surprised Cindy McCain is appearing on the show when her husband was there just last week. (John McCain has been on “The View” four times since it … Continue reading
