Unlikely Hollywood Fashion Designers

When I hear the name Luke Wilson the first word that pops into my mind is NOT fashion (or fashionable for that matter). Which is why I was floored when I learned that the actor is teaming up with PUMA to design a new line of modern golf apparel. Well, at least he’s not designing women’s shoes. The youngest Wilson brother says he plays “a ton of golf” so he figured it would be “fun” venturing into the world of sports apparel. So what can we look for on the links once the new Wilson/PUMA collection is unveiled? Company spokespeople … Continue reading

Flight Attendants Turned Travel Guides

Admit it; at some point in your life you have picked the brain of a flight attendant en route to your vacation destination searching for recommendations regarding where to eat, shop and suntan. Don’t worry; at some point just about everyone does it. In fact, so many travelers query their flight attendants on their top picks of destination cities that one airline has devoted a portion of their website to provide free sightseeing advice. Delta Air Lines has just launched a video showcase called “Delta Siteseer.” It includes 10, five-minute Internet “travelcasts” where flight attendants talk about their favorite attractions … Continue reading

Hollywood’s Newest Additions

It’s another boy for the former Mrs. Lyle Lovett. Julia Roberts welcomed her third child, a boy named Henry Daniel Moder, today in Los Angeles. According to news reports, the youngest Moder weighed in at 8.5 pounds. Little Henry joins his 2-year-old twin siblings Hazel and Phinnaeus. His famous mother should get in quite a workout juggling her brood… then again she does have husband 38-year-old cinematographer Danny Moder to help. The couple was married in July 2002 at Roberts’ home in Taos, New Mexico. No word on when we will see Roberts strolling with her new addition, but she’ll … Continue reading

Hollywood’s Newest Moms

She’s been hosting TV’s “Access Hollywood” for years, but now Nancy O’Dell has a new gig she says knows little about—-being a new mom. According to the entertainment show’s website, O’Dell and her husband Keith Zubchevich welcomed a baby girl, Ashby Grace earlier today at a Los Angeles hospital. The couple’s bundle of joy weighed in at 7 lbs., 9 oz. and measured 22 inches long. The occasion was made even more special as baby Ashby was born on O’Dell’s father’s birthday. “She made for quite a birthday present to her new grandfather,” the new mom said. But the family … Continue reading

The End Of A Hollywood Tradition

I love a parade. Which is why I was sad to hear that after 75 years the Hollywood Christmas Parade is no more. A few days ago parade officials announced that the holiday tradition has been cancelled due to rising costs and loss in revenue. “This is a very difficult thing for us to have to do,” the chairman of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors told reporters at a recent news conference. “We’re disappointed and sad. But we’re out of the parade business.” I’m sad too. I would have loved to take my young daughter to see … Continue reading

Popular Actor Lends Support To U.S. Troops… Just In Time For The Holidays

He’s best known in Hollywood for his roles in “Mary Tyler Moore” and “Lou Grant,” but to thousands of U.S. service men and women serving overseas Ed Asner is better known for his role as a holiday goodwill ambassador. The actor is rallying the “troops” (you, me and the rest of the nation) to help make this holiday a bit brighter for American troops stationed abroad, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan. Asner is asking all of us to take part in a national “Cards for Troops” campaign: “During the holiday season there’s no better way to lift the troops’ spirits … Continue reading

Fashion Trends—Would You Wear It?

It’s that time of the week again… time for another edition of “Fashion Trends—Would You Wear It?” A blog dedicated to the latest trends modeled by Hollywood’s elite. Recently, I have been adding at least one trend that I would actually shell out money for, though as regular readers of this blog know I am a bit conservative, so super short skirts, belly baring shirts and fingerless fishnet gloves never score well with me (though they may with you). In keeping with tradition here are a few recent fashion trends as made popular by stars and their friends, included is … Continue reading

Celebrity Weekend Weddings

It’s been a busy weekend for the Hanson family. Make that a busy year. Taylor Hanson, who wed in 2002, welcomed a third child with his wife Natalie last month. Younger brother, Zac, married his longtime girlfriend, Kate Tucker, in June. And just yesterday, the oldest Hanson brother, Isaac married his longtime girlfriend, Nicole Dufresne, in Oklahoma. (I bet their parents heads are still spinning.) According to PEOPLE magazine, 25-year-old Hanson and his 22-year-old bride wed in a traditional ceremony at the Philbrook Museum of Art in Hanson’s hometown of Tulsa. The Hanson brothers, who formed the music group Hanson … Continue reading

Top 5 Fashion Trends—Would You Wear It?

Fashion Week continues in New York City and celebrities are out in full force showing their support for their favorite designers. Last night, Barbara Walters and U.S. Open champion Roger Federer made appearances at the Oscar de la Renta show. While Courtney Cox, Carmen Electra, and other Hollywood stars have traveled east to be a part of the fashion frenzy. But, what about us—the millions of stay-and-work-at-home-moms who just try to make it through the day without anyone noticing the jelly and cheetos fingerprint stains on our shirts? When it’s time to change out of your “uniform” what do you … Continue reading

Disney D23 Expo Report, Pt. 2

The hottest panels at D23 were for companies Disney recently acquired, like Pixar and Marvel On Tuesday I looked at the exciting news about Pixar’s next projects that came out of Disney’s D23 convention. Today I’m going to wrap up my examination of the reports from D23. Now it’s time for the Muppets. D23 didn’t tell us a lot about the film that we don’t already know from the movie’s many trailers, but the two previewed clips cement what we’d suspected: that this is the most Muppet-y Muppets film we’ve had in a long time. The first clip expanded on … Continue reading
