Rosie O’Donnell Returns to TV and Billy Joel Returns a Favor

You didn’t really think she would stay away forever, did you? The rumors that have been flying around for months have finally been confirmed: Rosie O’Donnell is returning to the airwaves as host of her own TV variety show titled “Rosie’s Variety Hour.” (Original, huh?) According to Variety, O’Donnell’s new show will debut on November 26th on NBC. Right now the peacock network is airing the pre-Thanksgiving show as a network special, but execs say if the ratings are strong the hour-long show could become a permanent part of NBC’s primetime line-up. Producers say the comedian plans to fill her … Continue reading

Rosie O’Donnell Under Fire for Grabbing Son

Here we go again. Rosie O’Donnell’s back in the headlines for something she says she didn’t do and Donald Trump is there to add his two-cents worth on the entire ordeal. The latest Rosie rant started last week when The Globe ran a cover story with the headline “Abusive Rosie Bullies Son, 12.” The photos that accompany the article show an angry O’Donnell in an apparent argument with her pre-teen son Parker (who by the way has grown a LOT since I last saw him—-heck, he’s nearly as tall as Rosie). In one particular shot the former talk show host … Continue reading

Rosie O’Donnell vs. Hulk Hogan and Norman Plus Evert

It would seem like an even match in the wrestling ring, but so far the battle between the two celebs has been more verbal than physical. Though, I wouldn’t rule anything out just yet. This war of words could easily erupt into something more. For those of you who missed the first jab–it came from Hulk Hogan, the former wrestling superstar turned “American Gladiators” host. Hogan reportedly took aim at Rosie O’Donnell when TV reporters asked him which celebrity he’d most like to see in the ring with one of the show’s star wrestlers. “Without a doubt Rosie O’Donnell,” Hogan … Continue reading

Elisabeth On Rosie: “Maybe We’re Not Friends.”

DUH! Gee, ya think? It seems the youngest member of “The View” is finally speaking out about her current relationship with former co-host Rosie O’Donnell. In her first sit down interview since the much publicized on-air shouting match between herself and O’Donnell (the one that eventually led to the outspoken comedian’s abrupt departure from the daytime chatfest), Hasselbeck told TV’s “Access Hollywood” that she is now unsure if she can call O’Donnell a friend. This new revelation comes weeks after the 30-year-old former “Survivor” contestant repeatedly denied that the on-air spat caused a rift between her and O’Donnell. Now it … Continue reading

“View” News: Classy “Viewer” Weds and Rosie’s Idol Says “Ciao” To Rome

I’m sure the tabloids are counting the minutes until the start of today’s edition of “The View.” After all, this will be the first live show to air since Rosie O’Donnell announced she would be leaving the ABC chatfest before the end of her contract. No doubt there are those who are dying to see how den mother (and show creator) Barbara Walters handles the situation… but I think more people will be tuning in to see what co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck has to say about Rosie’s departure and having Donald Trump refer to her as “the dumbest person on television.” … Continue reading

Rosie To Elisabeth: “You’re no friend of mine!”

Just in case you care… it doesn’t look like Rosie O’Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck will be speaking to each other anytime soon. Make that—EVER… if you believe a 13-minute video that O’Donnell created to address rumors that have been flying since the two engaged in an on-air blow out last week. On the video, which is featured on Rosie’s blog, she discusses the much talked about incident and vehemently denies she trashed her own dressing room following the verbal brawl, saying: “I’ve never trashed anything, frankly.” However, the comedian and some-time actress does acknowledge that one of her “friends” at … Continue reading

Star Updates: Rosie and Katie

Many people (mainly those in the media) are wondering how Rosie O’Donnell is faring in the days since she told executives at “The View” she didn’t plan to return to the show on Tuesday—or ever! (Okay, she didn’t say “ever,” but you have to wonder will all the bad blood that was spilled during her war of words with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck if Rosie will indeed return to the show as a guest to speak on issues such as autism and adoption as she promised a few months ago.) Personally, I don’t know why members of the media are speculating … Continue reading

Rosie vs. Elisabeth—The Aftermath

I saw it. In a strange turn of events I actually caught the on-air brawl between “View” co-hosts Rosie O’Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, which transpired Wednesday. If you missed the dust-up, basically the crux of the argument was rooted in the fact O’Donnell had unresolved feelings regarding Hasselbeck’s failure to defend her when media outlets suggested that she had called U.S. troops “terrorists” during a previous on-air debate. Midway through the heated exchange, O’Donnell called Hasselbeck “cowardly.” “What you did was not defend me. … I asked you if you believed what the Republican pundits were saying – you said … Continue reading

So This is Why They Call Her a Crybaby

Perhaps, it’s her age… or maybe she’s pregnant again. Either way “The View” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck was in tears again on national TV last week when things got heated at the “Hot Topics” table. And you thought all the drama was reserved for the soaps that air immediately following the daytime chatfest. So here’s how it all went down: On Thursday’s show Hasselbeck’s fellow co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepard were discussing Jesse Jackson’s recent use of the n-word while preparing to tape an interview on FOX News. Goldberg and Shepard, who are both black, maintained that the word has … Continue reading

Viewing “The View” from a Different Angle

They’ve tried doing the show with a loud-mouthed dictator at the helm. And prior to that they tried to keep audiences while a self-absorbed, shoe-loving diva sat at the table. Now “The View” is trying a different tactic to score viewers–give fans V.I.P. backstage access to the show. Producers say it has never been done before (at least on their show) and so come Memorial Day the chatfest will make history by airing an unusual experiment that will give viewers a chance to see what happens behind the scenes at the daytime talk show. According to ABC bigwigs, in two … Continue reading
