Warren Beatty Sues as Rosie O’Donnell Returns

Remember back in 1990 when Warren Beatty both starred in and produced Dick Tracy? I never saw the flick (personally, I was more interested in the Warren Beatty/Madonna hookup that resulted from it), but apparently, plenty of people did. The film earned more than $160 million worldwide. It seems that in order to make the film, Beatty had to strike a deal with the Chicago Tribune, which owned the rights to the comic strip. The original deal stated that Beatty could retain the rights if he made another film, television series, or television special featuring the crime fighting detective. (This … Continue reading

Rosie’s Most Unforgettable Moments

Rosie O’Donnell has only been on “The View” for 6.5 months, but you’d think it was a lifetime… if you were Barbara Walters. To say the controversial co-host (who just announced she intends to leave the chatfest in June) has been a lightning rod for controversy is an understatement. Her verbal antics have been fodder for many of the blogs in the Pop Culture category here at families.com. And, while some of you may be sick of reading about Rosie, Rosie, Rosie, and the many, many moments she firmly planted her foot in her mouth I would be remiss if … Continue reading

Ciao Rosie!

The fact that CNN is calling the report “Breaking News” says a lot about the state of our world, doesn’t it? It’s the news some knew would be coming and others hoped would be coming (Donald Trump and Co.)—Rosie O’Donnell will be leaving ABC’s “The View” in June. I just watched the controversial co-host announce her departure live on “The View” and she didn’t seem to be upset about it at all. According to O’Donnell, she wasn’t able to agree on contract details with ABC (she says they wanted her to sign a 3-year deal and she only wanted to … Continue reading

Ah, Rosie is at it Again

Okay, this time, Rosie was egged on a bit. Apparently, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay called for Rosie to be suspended from her duties on “The View” last Friday. It seems that DeLay was a bit upset by the firing of Don Imus over his racist comments about the Rutger’s girl’s basketball team. Well, he was not actually upset about the firing – DeLay says his comments were deplorable, but said Imus has apologized for the comments, should be forgiven, and everyone should just move on. But, DeLay insists that the Left wants Imus to be destroyed, both publicly and … Continue reading

Rosie vs. The Donald vs. Barbara

Okay, enough already – please! It seems that every morning when I awake and turn on the news, Rosie O’Donnell or Donald Trump is on, slurring the other. This whole feud just does not even make any sense to me! Now granted, I am not a big fan of either Rosie or Donald. And now, they have managed to drag Barbara Walters into the feud. I am even not 100% certain how this started (and please correct me if I am wrong), but I think started it when Rosie posted comments on her web blog before Christmas. It was a … Continue reading

“The View” News: Rosie’s Apology and Star’s New Gig

Is it too little too late? Rosie O’Donnell used ABC’s “The View” as a venue to make a formal, on-camera apology and directly address the issue of her now-infamous attempt at “humor” by imitating a Chinese person. O’ Donnell replayed the offending segment, which originally ran December 5th, then issued this statement: “This apparently was very offensive to a lot of Asian people. So I asked Judy, who’s Asian and works here in our hair and makeup department. I said, ‘Was it offensive to you?’ And she said, ‘Well, kinda. When I was a kid people did tease me by … Continue reading

Musicians Getting and Giving Aid

GETTING AID At 26 years old you’d think singer Isaac Hanson would be in the prime of his life. However, the guitarist for the all-brother group Hanson recently came close to losing it all during a concert in Dallas. That’s when he says his shoulder started swelling and his right arm became numb. “Having had this happen before, I started to be really suspicious of what it was,” Hanson told reporters. “In the middle of the show, I said to someone: ‘We may need to go to the hospital.’ ” Hanson was able to make it through the show, but … Continue reading

Coming Clean—Maybe

It was a “hot topic” on the show she formerly co-hosted, but now Star Jones Reynolds says she wants to extinguish the fanfare that surrounded her dramatic weight loss. The talk show host has decided to write an article for Glamour magazine in an effort to set the record straight. “I wrote an article because I really wanted to go as in-depth as possible about the way I’ve changed physically over the last 10 years on the air,” the 45-year-old criminal justice reporter recently told media reps while promoting her new Court TV (soon to be truTV) talk show. “And … Continue reading

Ready, Set… Wed!

It yet another startling chapter (oh wait, nothing in Hollywood surprises me anymore) in the ongoing saga between actor Charlie Sheen, his ex-wife, Denise Richards and his current girlfriend Brooke Mueller it seems a wedding is in the offing… for Sheen and Mueller. According to TV’s “Extra,” after a year of dating, Sheen popped the question to his real estate investor girlfriend on a Costa Rican beach. He reportedly sealed the deal with a $500,000 engagement ring. Good gravy! Do you think he thought she would say no if the ring was worth less than a house, two cars, and … Continue reading

Pop Culture Potpourri: No More DNA Doubts, No More Appendix, and More

NO MORE DNA DOUBTS The facts don’t lie. The results of the DNA test imposed upon Eddie Murphy are in, and according to PEOPLE magazine, the actor is indeed the father of Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown’s 2-month-old daughter. You’ll recall Libby previously wrote about the hoopla surrounding the paternity of Brown’s baby. The results came back yesterday and according to sources: “The baby is undoubtedly, 110 percent Eddie’s.” Brown gave birth to Angel Iris Murphy Brown on April 3 and immediately contended that Murphy was the child’s father, but in May Murphy refused to take a paternity test and reportedly … Continue reading
