Rihanna and Chris Brown Reunite

Not at the police department, the courthouse, or an attorney's office. Word has it that Rihanna and her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown (yes, the same Chris Brown who is accused of assaulting her earlier this month) are back together again.

Shocked?

Domestic violence experts say we shouldn't be. According to studies, it's rare that an incident like the one that Rihanna allegedly suffered at the hands of her attacker cause a permanent end to a romance. And given that the alleged pre-Grammy beating was reportedly not the first of its kind, experts say it would have been more surprising if the pair had not reconciled.

Neither Rihanna's nor Brown's camp has confirmed the rumor, but PEOPLE magazine is reporting that the couple is currently spending time together at one of Sean "Diddy" Combs's homes, on Miami Beach's Star Island.

The reunion comes almost three weeks after the 19-year-old hitmaker allegedly bit, shoved and punched the 21-year-old "Umbrella" singer on February 8th.

"They're together again. They care for each other," a source tells PEOPLE.

Adds the source: "While Chris is reflective and saddened about what happened, he is really happy to be with the woman he loves."

I'm sure he is. After all, what woman would take the stand to implicate a guy who loves her so much?

According to PEOPLE, talks to reunite began shortly after Brown called Rihanna on her 21st birthday last week.

"He called to wish her happy birthday," a source told the magazine. "They've reached out to each other. It's been mutual."

Hmmm... this latest development doesn't bode well for domestic violence advocates, who hoped that Rihanna would join their ranks and speak out about the cycle of violence, so many women find themselves trapped in.

Meanwhile, the L.A. District Attorney, who will ultimately determine which charges, if any, Brown will face, has declined to comment on the pair's reunion.
