As Michele mentioned in my last blog, the list of dead celebrities seems to get longer and longer each year. Here are more we lost in 2009: July 19 – Frank McCourt (78) McCourt, a Pulitzer Prize winner, was best known for his memoir Angela’s Ashes. He died of melanoma. July 23 – E. Lynn Harris (54) The African American author who specialized in writing about gay men had ten consecutive books on the New York Times Best Seller list. DJ AM Dead at 36

I came home from a night out with friends and read the headline that DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) was found dead in his Manhattan apartment. Friends reported not hearing from him for two days and police broke the door down to find his lifeless body. Great, Ted Kennedy, Dominick Dunne, and now DJ AM – the death in threes theory continues! Yes, the same guy that seemed lucky to survive the fiery plane crash in South Carolina last September is dead at the age of 36. Apparently Jennifer Aniston thinks some men deserve a second chance. She and John Mayer, after months of secrecy, were seen together in public. But, the two split in August 2008. Update on DJ AM and Travis Barker

Both DJ AM and Travis Baker have been released from Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia after their recent plane crash. That they even made it to the hospital seemed like a miracle in and of itself. In fact, on his Facebook page, DJ AM wrote “Adam Goldstein [real name] is the luckiest guy alive.” You can read more about the South Carolina plane crash in Michele’s blog, but DJ AM and Travis were the only two who survived – the pilot, co-pilot, and two other passengers died in the crash. By now you have probably seen the video showing the horrific plane crash that claimed the lives of former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker’s assistant, his bodyguard and the pilot and co-pilot on board the Learjet that exploded into a fireball in South Carolina late Friday night. He shot to fame as Blink 182’s mega-tattooed drummer and continued to keep his name in the headlines when he allowed MTV to document his marriage to former Miss USA Shanna Moakler on “Meet the Barkers,” now Travis Barker is fighting for his life in a Georgia hospital.
