REAL or RUMOR? Clooney Heading Back to "ER" and Madonna Getting Divorcedby Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 17 Mar 2008 09:00 PM CLOONEY HEADING BACK TO "ER" He has won an Oscar and a Golden Globe since leaving "ER" nearly a decade ago and now rumors are circulating that George Clooney might be heading back to the show that helped make him famous. Turns out this one is pure rumor. But, oh how I wish this one was true. I really haven't watched the hit NBC drama series since Clooney's character, the hunky Dr. Doug "you-can-examine-me-anytime" Ross, left in 1999. Clooney tells TV's "Entertainment Tonight" that the story came out of nowhere and took on a life of its own. Bottom line, he says, no one has asked him to return to the show, not even for what could be the series' finale. The 46-year-old actor says despite the fact that he won't be returning to "ER" he realizes what a huge impact the show had on his career. MADONNA GETTING DIVORCED I wouldn't be surprised if this rumor becomes reality in the future, but for now Madonna's rep is denying reports that claim the singer and her husband Guy Ritchie are splitting. The couple has long encountered speculation that their marriage is a troubled one and the most recent rumors were reportedly initiated by a British news service story that quoted an unnamed source as saying "Madonna and Guy Ritchie are over." Multiple reports also speculated that the couple, who has been working on separate projects, was headed for divorce court. Late today Madonna's rep adamantly denied the reports but did confirm that the pair spent quite a bit of time a part recently. Each was in a different country--Madonna in the U.S. doing promotion for her upcoming album Hard Candy and Guy finishing up post production on his new film RocknRolla. However, the Material Girl's rep says the couple is now back together and enjoying time with their children (Lourdes, 11, Rocco, 7, and David, 2 1/2, whom they are in the process of adopting) in London. They are hoping for a full reunion - Noah Wyle has already signed on (not that he's been gone that long anyhow!) and I guess they will try for Eric LaSalle and Julianna Margulies. Of course, since Anthony Edwards died in the show, I guess he can't come back - LOL! Michele Cheplic (37236) 18 Mar 2008 12:24 PMDidn't hear that, just saw Clooney on ET last night saying that no one has approached him and when he asked ER's exec producer about it he said he didn't know who started the rumor. Like everything in Hollywood I will believe it when I see it. Libby Pelham (12866) 18 Mar 2008 02:25 PMWell, considering ER gave him his rise to fame, I would think George could take a bit of time off to honor the show, but that is just my opinion :-) Community Tags ER, George Clooney, Guy Ritchie, Madonna Discuss this article
