Random Acts of Stardom

What is it with celebrities and cupcakes? First Katie Holmes was seen doling the confections out to castmates and crew members on the set of her new movie and now a popular TV doctor is providing them to a fellow actress as a form of medicine. According to USA Today, when “The Office” star Jenna Fischer injured her back at party hosted by NBC a couple of weeks ago, fellow actor Zach Braff (who plays Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian on NBC’s hit comedy “Scrubs”) sent her a big tray of cupcakes to lift her spirits. “In those first few days, … Continue reading

Celebrities and Valentine’s Day

Do you have a date for Valentine’s Day? If not, you’re not alone. In fact, some of Hollywood’s biggest names recently revealed that they have no plans to celebrate Love Day tomorrow. For example, The Office star Jenna Fisher dished that she won’t be sipping champagne and munching on truffles tomorrow. Rather, the actress says she will be attending her friend’s daughter’s bat mitzvah. Grammy-winning singer Duffy admits that she won’t be celebrating Valentine’s Day with the traditional romantic dinner and sweet sounding cards. Instead, the songstress says she plans to spend the night serenading “beautiful men”… in a gay … Continue reading

Celebrity Round Up: Killing Shows, Killing Rumors, and Killer Legs

KILLING SHOWS “Scrubs” fans will have to enter new numbers into their TV remotes this fall if they want to catch up with their hospital friends. The once popular NBC comedy is moving to ABC this September and that’s not the only change viewers can expect. Series star Zack Braff recently announced he plans to hang up his scrubs and walk away from the show at the end of the season, which means writers are busy tailoring several episodes to mark the departure. Show creator Bill Lawrence recently confirmed the upcoming season of “Scrubs” will be Braff’s last. He also … Continue reading

The Most Overrated

No, no, this is not my personal list (which would surely start with Britney Spears and Hooters food), but it is a list from Radar Magazine. Who or what is the most overrated? Well, sorry to say Brits, but the magazine deemed your beloved David and Victoria Beckham as the winners of this dubious award. They said that David is an overpaid soccer star (true) and Victoria is a “pointless collection of body parts.” Ouch. I agree they are overrated, but I think they should also be #1 in the Most Overexposed category as well (along with Tom, Katie, and … Continue reading

Celebrities Lend Helping Hand To Virginia Tech Students

They say tragedy brings out the best in people, and April’s tragic shooting at Virginia Tech was no exception. In the days following the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history an outpouring of support blanketed the campus in Blacksburg. Now, four months after the massacre, a handful of stars are once again uniting to offer help to the students and staff affected by the shooting rampage. School officials have just confirmed that John Mayer and the Dave Matthews Band will headline a special concert at Virginia Tech on September 6th to help the university and its students begin the new … Continue reading

Celebrities Turned Foodies

Usually it’s the other way around. Foodies or chefs are catapulted into stardom when enough of their to die for dishes become the talk of the town. (Think celebrity chefs Rachael Ray, Bobby Flay, and Paula Deen.) Enter Justin Timberlake. The singer turned fashion designer has just added a new line to his resume–restaurant owner. Timberlake (along with a posse of his celeb pals) brought some heat to the Big Apple last night by opening his new restaurant, Southern Hospitality. As its name suggests, the new eatery features southern comfort food with an emphasis on barbecue. Timberlake says he wanted … Continue reading

Cause Celeb

Call it history in the making. A slew of Hollywood’s biggest names are lending their names (and arms) in the name of HIV awareness. Regina King, Howard Hesseman and Jimmy Jean-Louis of NBC’s “Heroes” are among a group of entertainers getting voluntary HIV tests next week to raise public awareness of the virus in black communities. The actors will not only be undergoing the test, but they will be doing so in front of cameras at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) headquarters in Los Angeles. Their efforts are part of a new campaign called “1 in a Million.” The campaign’s … Continue reading
