Pregnant "Gossip Girl" Actress Files for Divorce

You know things are bottom of the barrel bad when you feel the need to file for divorce when you've only been married for two years... and you are currently three months pregnant.
No word on exactly why "Gossip Girl" actress Kelly Rutherford is splitting from her husband of two years, German entrepreneur Daniel Giersch, but it appears their disdain for each other is mutual. According to reports, Rutherford simply beat her estranged husband to the punch by filing for divorce just hours before Giersch submitted his paperwork for legal separation.
The 40-year-old former "Melrose Place" star is reportedly three months pregnant with Giersch's child (though that may be up for dispute given the current situation). The couple is already parents to an adorable 2-year-old son Hermes and just a few months ago Rutherford was gushing about giving her firstborn a new sibling to play with.
Hermes will still be getting his new baby brother or sister, but the fate of this parent's relationship is up in the air. According to court documents, Rutherford is citing the usual "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for calling it quits with her Giersch.
This is Rutherford's second marriage... and soon-to-be second divorce. Coincidentally (or maybe not so much), Rutherford's "Gossip Girl" character, Lily van der Woodsen, is a serial divorcee, who loves getting married, but has trouble staying hitched. Which is not to say that art intentionally imitates life or vice versa for Rutherford. In fact, I view the situation as extremely sad. After all, I highly doubt there are many women out there who would revel being pregnant, parenting a toddler, wading through the muddy waters of divorce (and what looks to be a nasty child custody battle), and having details of her life splashed in supermarket tabloids around the world.
And lest you think Rutherford's divorce filing was motivated by pregnancy hormones, let it not go unnoticed that her estranged husband submitted his legal paperwork just hours after she signed hers.
Do you know anyone who has filed for divorce while pregnant?
