Pop Culture Potpourri: No More DNA Doubts, No More Appendix, and More

NO MORE DNA DOUBTS

The facts don't lie. The results of the DNA test imposed upon Eddie Murphy are in, and according to PEOPLE magazine, the actor is indeed the father of Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown's 2-month-old daughter.

You'll recall Libby previously wrote about the hoopla surrounding the paternity of Brown's baby. The results came back yesterday and according to sources: "The baby is undoubtedly, 110 percent Eddie's."

Brown gave birth to Angel Iris Murphy Brown on April 3 and immediately contended that Murphy was the child's father, but in May Murphy refused to take a paternity test and reportedly said he wanted nothing to do with Brown or the child.

So what's next now that Murphy has been named as the baby's father? According to Murphy's new girlfriend, Tracey Edmonds, Murphy will "take responsibility." (I suspect he will financially at least.)

NO MORE APPENDIX

Late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel is bedridden today. The host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" underwent an emergency appendectomy Wednesday night in Los Angeles.

"The surgery was a success," Kimmel's publicist told reporters. That's the good news. The bad news is that the rest of this week's tapings of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" have been canceled until he is back on his feet. That's especially bad news to the audience members whose summer travel plans included a trip to Kimmel's set.

NO MORE WAITING FOR FOOD

I don't think Danny DeVito would be offended by anyone noting that he loves to eat (and drink). I met the actor in 1992 at a resort in Hawaii and he was chowing down on a burger then. Well, now he will never have to wait in line for a meal since he's just opened a new restaurant.

DeVito South Beach is an Italian chophouse located on trendy Ocean Drive in Miami, Florida. The actor's name is not just on the sign out front because he likes eating there, he also had a hand in developing the Italian menu, which focuses on meat and seafood.

"Fish is really big for me - sushi, a nice branzino or spigola (sea bass). Or pasta with some great cheese like pecorino or romano with some prosciutto or salami," DeVito told reporters. "If you haven't noticed, I'm not one to pass up a meal."

No kidding. DeVito's signature meal is a $325 trio of steaks from Japan, Australia and the United States that serves three people.

Oops, guess the egg's on Eddie's face now. Didn't he deny the baby was his?

I think he said something like don't assume I am the dad until the baby comes out and gets tested... and the ironic part is that he didn't even want to get tested. He should have kept his mouth shut and they could have done all of this out of the media's glare.
