The Golden Globe Awards Show Bites the Dust

I guess I can shelve the pickle juice… Striking Hollywood writers finally got their way… the Golden Globe Awards are officially cancelled and thus have become yet another victim of the writers’ work stoppage. Organizers of the ceremony say they will still give out the awards, only now they will do so via a press conference. That’s right; no more fancy tuxes, sparkly dresses or that lavish champagne dinner in the Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom. Can the Show Really Go On?

In a previous blog I noted that despite the ongoing Hollywood writers strike the Hollywood Foreign Press Association along with NBC vowed to move forward with the Golden Globe Awards presentations, which is scheduled to air January 13th. However, less than 24 hours ago, the Screen Actors Guild threw a major wrench in the broadcast’s plans and you now have to wonder how the show could possibly go on. So much for that happy ending I predicted… Ellen DeGeneres cried her eyes out on her show yesterday as she recounted the events that led to her dog being taken from her hairstylist’s home. But, it appears the comedian’s tearful plea didn’t help soften the hearts of the owners of a dog agency that maintains DeGeneres violated an adoption contract. If you don’t want to see Ellen DeGeneres in the midst of a massive emotional meltdown then you’ll want to steer clear of her talk show today. Hollywood is buzzing about DeGeneres being in the doghouse with a local animal adoption agency. I’ve spent a number of blogs talking about “Cars” and the impact this movie has had on my boys and subsequently the amount of “stuff” we have in our home, but the movie’s also caught the attention of those “in the know” as can be seen from the amount of awards that it has been nominated for this year. Anne Heche has confirmed that she and Coley Laffoon, her hubby of five years, have split. Heche and Laffoon have one son, four-year-old Homer. There are rumors that Heche is seeing her “Men in Trees” costar James Tupper, who split from his wife last November, but there is no official word from the stars. Heche was one-half a highly publicized romance with Ellen DeGeneres during the late 90s. Their relationship came light after DeGeneres announced her sexuality.
