Pop Culture Potpourri—-Paris Pouts and Fraser’s Marriage Fizzles

When Paris Hilton was released from jail earlier this year she vowed to rededicate her life to help those in need. How charitable. But, now the 26-year-old socialite’s philanthropic posturing is really being put to the test—-courtesy of her grandfather. Hilton’s 80-year-old grandpa Barron Hilton (whose father was the original founder of the hotel chain that bears the family name) just announced he plans to donate 97 percent of his fortune to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. The charity aids the homeless, helps provide safe water in developing countries, and assists other worthy causes around the world. So what does … Continue reading

Paris and The Anti-Paris

With celebutantes like Paris Hilton floating around Hollywood it’s hard to grasp that there are a number of other famous 20-somethings who are making names for themselves in ways that don’t land them in a 12-foot jail cell for 21 days. I’ll get to one of them in a moment. First, though, as long as I’m using her name in yet another blog I might as well give you the latest on the millionaress. In a recent interview done with Elle UK, the 26-year-old hotel heiress claims she is prepping her body for an effort to have children by next … Continue reading

Paris Hilton Receives Royal Treatment In Jail

Just when you thought the Pop Culture blog had become a Paris-free zone-—BAM-—the celebutante strikes again. The hotel heiress is making headlines again, though this time it’s not for shenanigans that took place outside of her jailhouse cell, but rather what occurred when the party princess was behind bars. According to news reports, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has opened an investigation into allegations that the 26-year-old millionairess received special treatment during her 23 days in jail for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. What? Paris Hilton received star treatment behind bars? Come on… In all seriousness, according … Continue reading

Paris Back To Her Partying Ways

Well, that didn’t take long. Just days after her release from jail, Paris Hilton has returned to her old stomping grounds. According to PEOPLE magazine, the 26-year-old socialite recently hit the L.A. hotspot Les Deux for a girls’ night out. Members of the paparazzi shot the heiress entering the club a little before midnight with a group of gal pals, including her sister Nicky and music producer David Foster’s daughter, Erin. Oh, and did I mention the millionairess brought along her two beefy bodyguards who struggled to keep other club patrons from snapping pictures of her. “Paris was super happy … Continue reading

The Post Mortem On Paris’ Interview

Did you happen to catch Paris Hilton’s first words as a free woman? I saw bits of pieces of her taped piece while I was getting my daughter ready for bed. The CNN interview (her first broadcast interview since leaving jail Tuesday) was conducted by Larry King and was just as I figured it would be—filled with awkward pauses as the heir-head–I mean heiress–collected her thoughts and tried to put them into words. If you missed the interview, which detailed the socialite’s 23 days behind bars here’s a sampling of what you would have heard: According to Paris, being locked … Continue reading

Paris Postscript

Well, you didn’t expect her to go on Larry King looking like she just spent 23 in jail did you? Oh wait. That is the reason Paris Hilton is appearing on the CNN show tonight. It’s been more than 24 hours since the hotel heiress strutted out of the Century Regional Detention Facility wearing tight jeans and $300 stilettos. Twenty-four hours later and any hope that the party princess had a major ego adjustment as a result of her time behind bars seems to be fading. The first sign that the celebutante’s stay in the slammer hasn’t readjusted her priorities—the … Continue reading

Free At Last—Paris Walks

While most of us were nestled in bed (please don’t tell me you stayed up to watch it unfold), one of the country’s most talked about jailbirds took flight shortly after midnight Pacific Time. Paris Hilton is once again a free woman. With a huge grin plastered on her face the hotel heiress strolled out of jail and into her mother’s arms. The 26-year-old party princess was dressed down in an olive jacket, white shirt, tight jeans, and her hair was pulled back in a braided ponytail (reminiscent of her days on the farm during the first season of her … Continue reading

Princess Paris On King

Okay all you Paris Hilton fans… ready your TiVo’s for Wednesday night. According to the hotel heiress herself, that’s when she will appear live on CNN’s “Larry King Live” for her first post-jail interview. CNN confirmed the socialite’s appearance and said that she will be on for the entire hour. The news comes less than 24 hours after both NBC (the network that had originally booked Hilton’s first post-jail interview) and ABC pulled out of talks with the incarcerated blonde. Both networks were reportedly embarrassed by reports that they were willing to pay the Hilton family for materials related to … Continue reading

All Paris All The Time

Believe it or not Paris Hilton has almost completed her debt to society (well, at least for driving with a suspended license). In less than 60 hours the hotel heiress will be sprung from the slammer… and then the real (media) circus will begin. Speaking of the media… The New York Post is reporting that NBC has agreed to fork over as much as $1 million for Paris Hilton’s first post-jail interview. Network execs say the interview will appear on the “Today” show and be conducted by Meredith Vieira the day after the blonde socialite is freed. If you are … Continue reading

Paris’ Not So Happy Homecoming

Paris Hilton shouldn’t expect her neighbors to roll out the red carpet once she is released from the slammer. In fact, she may wish she still had the security of armed deputies around her judging by the angry mob of neighbors who have contacted various L.A. City Council members. According to spokespeople for the city council, their office has already received more than 50 complaints from Hilton’s irate neighbors. Most residents that live near the incarcerated socialite’s home expressed concerned about noise from the five helicopters that handled the live coverage of her one-day at home. They don’t want a … Continue reading
