Oscar Glam: The Million Dollar Massageby Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 25 Feb 2007 03:00 PM With just a few hours until Hollywood's biggest party kicks off, many of tonight's Oscar nominees have segued from the relaxation portion of the day to the "I-wonder-if-I'll win-and-if-I-do-will-they-cut-me-off-during-my-acceptance-speech" part. I for one am not feeling bad for any one of them. PUH-LEEZE! Do you know how many of those nominees and their celebrity friends have spent the week getting the star treatment at super-secret spas? I'm talking about $500 facials and $1 million massages. A million dollar massage?! No, it's not a misprint. According to InStyle magazine, Hearts on Fire, known for its perfectly cut diamonds, has partnered with Spa on Location to create a mobile spa that makes house calls. It's signature treatment: the "Dream Girl" Diamond Massage - with $1 million in loose diamonds. So, does it leave you feeling like a million bucks? Ask Gwyneth Paltrow... the actress reportedly got one two days ago. Hey, I'd settle for a $100 massage... Moving on to that $500 facial I referenced earlier. Tracie Martyn transported her $500 signature re-sculpting facial to L.A. from her New York City spa, and according to US Weekly, she has already worked on celebrities including Meryl Streep and Reese Witherspoon. (P.S. They actually paid for their appointments. However, if they had gone to Sonya Dakar's VIP gifting suite they would have received a special Oscar Facial, complete with red light LED treatment and an oxygen treatment--for free.) But, the stars are not the only ones getting buffed and beautified. According to TV's "Entertainment Tonight," crystal giant Swarovski has created a custom 34-foot long curtain of gems for the Academy Awards set. The curtain is made from 50,000 crystals and weighs about one ton. It's estimated worth: $1 million. Of course, that's probably less than what will be hanging from some nominees necks. Finally, once all of the awards are handed out the winners and their golden statuettes will head over to feast on the culinary creations chef Wolfgang Puck has whipped up for the Academy's Governors Ball. Oh, how I wish I could join Forest Whitaker and Helen Mirren as they dine like Oscar royalty. On Puck's menu: spicy tuna, lobster and avocado sushi, prawns, King Crab legs, oysters, Kobe beef, risotto, striped bass, and for dessert---a gold-dusted chocolate Oscar. Did I mention the caviar topped baked potatoes? Okay, forget about rubbing elbows with Whitaker and Mirren... I'll settle for a solo seat at the buffet table.
