George Clooney the Peacemaker

In 1997 George Clooney starred in a movie with Nicole Kidman called “The Peacemaker.” In the film Kidman plays a nuclear expert and Clooney a Special Forces Intelligence Officer. Both are called to investigate a train crash in Russia that includes a nuclear payload, only neither Clooney nor Kidman’s characters believe the crash was an “accident.” It was a sleeper of a movie, but its title is quite fitting to describe the role Clooney is now playing in the real life drama that involves two rival Hollywood actors unions. The handsome star is pleading with the warring factions to put … Continue reading

The Ups and Downs of Celebrity

So much for a summer wedding… or a fall or winter one. George Clooney is hanging tight to his title of Hunkiest Bachelor Alive. According to reports, he and girlfriend Sarah Larson have split up after a year of dating. Larson is the stunning beauty the actor met in Sin City nearly four years ago while she was working as a cocktail waitress. The 29-year-old former Fear Factor winner caught Clooney’s eye and the pair began a romantic relationship in June 2007. Within weeks Larson and her 47-year-old beau made appearances together at the Venice and Deauville film festivals and … Continue reading

Just Saying No

Spice Girl turned reality TV star Victoria Beckham is denying that she is adding to her clan. The girl group singer insists that she is not pregnant (yet) and is currently concentrating on spending “quality time” with her three young sons. Beckham sparked rumors a few weeks ago when she told reporters that she dreamed of adding a baby girl to her brood of boys. Further fanning the rumor flames was the fact that the rail-thin mom was noticeably staying away from alcohol at her birthday celebration last month. Earlier this week the spicy mama issued this statement in an … Continue reading

George Clooney—–Peace Keeper

He has been called many a name in his lifetime (most of the negative ones came courtesy of Fabio), but George Clooney says “peace keeper” is not one he is referred to very often. However, if the shoe fits… The handsome actor is back in the headlines again today after donating $5.6 million to help the United Nations peacekeeping force in war-torn Sudan buy a fleet of helicopters. How’s that for digging deep? Clooney, who was recently named a U.N. Messenger of Peace, has been one of the most outspoken celebrity advocates for the victims in the impoverished Darfur region. … Continue reading

Pop Culture Potpourri: Actor’s Dogs are Not Killers and Clooney’s Latest Award

Ving Rhames’ dogs didn’t kill anyone. Or so claims a new report that was compiled after an exhaustive five-month investigation. According to the Los Angeles Department of Coroner, 40-year-old Jacob Adams, the man who was found dead on the front lawn of the actor’s L.A. home back in August was not mauled to death by Rhames’ dogs as police first reported. Rather, the coroner found that Adams “died because of a preexisting heart problem.” As for the dog bites found on him the coroner determined they were “non-fatal.” Rhames was out of the country filming a movie when his friend … Continue reading

SNAP! Chelsea Clinton Disses Cub Reporter

With just days before the Iowa caucuses Hillary Clinton really doesn’t need any bad PR right now. But, that’s exactly what she got this weekend thanks to her daughter Chelsea. Leave it to the media to run with an obscure story… but, hey, facts are facts. The Clinton brouhaha took place at a campaign event yesterday. Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton has just wrapped up a speaking engagement in Iowa when 9-year-old Sydney Rieckoff, a fourth grader from Cedar Rapids and an official “kid reporter” for Scholastic News tried to approach her. The pint-sized reporter reportedly couldn’t get to Hillary Clinton … Continue reading

George Clooney Nobel Peace Prize Winner?

It appears he may be well on his way. The handsome actor who has graced many a magazine cover is making headlines again—-this time though, it has nothing to do with his relationship with Fabio or his comments about Britney Spears. George Clooney along with celeb pal Don Cheadle are being honored for their efforts to bring peace to Africa’s war-torn Darfur region. But the honor is not being bestowed upon the two actors by just anyone. Clooney and Cheadle will be flying to Rome next month to accept the 2007 Peace Summit Award from the 8th World Summit of … Continue reading

Celebrity Updates: Fabio vs. George Fallout and “Hannah Montana” Sky High Ticket Prices

George Clooney is a “low-class scumbag.” At least according to the famous longhaired literary lover Fabio. As you’ll recall from my previous blog, the actor (best known for his role in those butter substitute commercials) and movie star George Clooney recently got into a scuffle at a Beverly Hills restaurant after the former “Facts of Life” star allegedly insulted some of Fabio’s female companions. The romance novel icon stunned diners at the upscale eatery when he exchanged fighting words with Clooney before both men started to get unflatteringly physical with each other. Now Fabio is going on the record, defending … Continue reading

Fabio vs. George Clooney—For Real

I’m not talking about on TV or in the pages of a steamy romance novel. I’m talking about the real deal. A full-on fist flying altercation that took place in a crowded Beverly Hills restaurant. In front of George Clooney’s lady love no less. It’s true; two legendary Hollywood heartthrobs going head-to-head last week in a bizarre incident that still has Tinseltown talking. According to news reports, Clooney was having dinner with his girlfriend Sarah Larson and another male acquaintance at ritzy Madeo’s restaurant. Meanwhile, Fabio was dining at a nearby table with a group of women. Towards the end … Continue reading

George Clooney’s New Gig

From Darfur to Switzerland? It appears hunky George Clooney is spreading his knowledge of all things environmentally and socially sound to a more neutral country. According Clooney’s rep, the handsome and still bruised actor has accepted the job of executive board member of a new Swiss energy company that will “develop environmentally friendly techniques for car motors and other devices.” The new company is being created by a Swiss billionaire who is interested in pursuing new advancements in the clean production of hydrogen, solar energy and fuel cells. Nicolas Hayek, chairman of the Swatch Group (the largest watchmaker in the … Continue reading
