Oops, She Did It Again! Britney Spears Recommitted to Hospitalby Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 31 Jan 2008 05:04 AM Same sad scene different day. It was déjà vu for Los Angeles paramedics last night as they once again returned to Casa Crazy (a.k.a. Britney Spears' mansion). According to news reports (have you turned on your TV this morning), the popwreck was strapped on a stretcher by emergency personnel and taken by ambulance to UCLA Medical Center for a 72-hour psychiatric hold. An unnamed police source told reporters: "Spears was escorted by police and is on her way to get help." We all know by now that the 26-year-old singer has been stripped of all custody involving her two young sons so what initiated Spears' latest trip to the hospital? "She was driving around her neighborhood like a mad-woman," a Spears family source told reporters. "Britney has been prescribed medication which she refuses to take. This is just another sad, sad evening." According to TMZ.com, the "medication" Spears refuses to take, was prescribed by the same psychiatrist who called the cops last night to have Brit hauled away to the hospital. TMZ is also reporting that the queen of meltdown's 5150 hold has been in the works for a while. The website alleges the plan to get Brit hospitalized was so intricate "the FAA had cleared airspace en route to the hospital." Though, by the looks of the aerial footage I've seen on CNN I find that hard to believe. Sources say Brit's psychiatrist was at the singer's home early last night and felt her condition had deteriorated---apparently the former Mouseketeer had not slept since Saturday and was spotted driving recklessly near her home. Brit's shrink felt she was a danger to herself and others and reportedly called in the pros to have her placed on the same 5150 hold that was instituted earlier this month when Spears refused to give her youngest son back to her ex Kevin Federline. According to a number of entertainment TV shows, Spears is currently under the care of a "team of mental health experts" who diagnosed her with bipolar disorder. Which might be why her mother Lynne Spears flew in from her home in Louisiana earlier this week. Various news shows have shown video of Spears's mother and father along with Brit's cousin Alli Sims, manager/confidant Sam Lutfi, and current boy toy Adnan Ghalib at UCLA Medical Center. According to reports, the reason Spears was taken to UCLA is because her psychiatrist practices out of that medical center. Let's hope Dr. Phil stays far away from UCLA. Two final notes: Earlier in the evening, several Internet sites claimed that the Spears had attempted suicide, but sources close to the singer say those reports are false. Also, it appears unlike the last time Brit was taken in for a mental evaluation, this time she went willingly and peacefully.
