Oops! It Happened Again---Miss USA Takes a Dive

Not AGAIN!

You don't have to know a stitch about beauty pageants to know that a contestant's job is relatively straightforward: Smile, look good, and don't say anything you'll regret later.

Oh, and being able to remain upright on heels helps too.

For those of you who missed it, for the second year in a row, Miss USA took a tumble as she tried to make her way across the stage during the evening gown competition at last night's Miss Universe competition.

In front of millions of TV viewers around the world Miss USA Crystle Stewart, a 26-year-old Texan, tripped on the train of her bejeweled evening gown and fell flat on her rump.

I'm not sure what it did to her tush, given that she doesn't look as though she had much padding down there, but I'll bet the fall bruised her ego a bit.

Though, I must say she looked good going down and getting back up again.

In fact, overall I would say she handled the situation quite well (she smiled and clapped for herself---or in spite of herself---once she got up). Of course, she might have gotten tips on what to do in such an event from her predecessor Miss USA Rachel Smith who also slipped during the evening gown competition at last year's Miss Universe contest in Mexico City.

Smith didn't go home with the crown, but her fall made YouTube history as one of the most watched clips ever.

Despite the fact that Stewart's fall will likely be as publicized (if not more) than Smith's, I have a feeling she'll take in stride. After all, Stewart is a motivational speaker who is working on a book called "Waiting to Win."

I have a feeling last night's slip up will make it into her new book. Heck, she could probably write an entire novel on the experience.

The fall didn't lead to a "win" for Stewart last night (though, she could conceivably de-throne Smith on YouTube). In fact, it was the first time in years a Miss USA contestant didn't make it to the Final 5.

The Miss Universe crown went to Miss Venezuela Dayana Mendoza, who was once kidnapped in her homeland and says the experience taught her to remain poised under pressure.

I wonder if she tried to flee from her captors while wearing heels. If so it sure paid off last night.
