In A Sea of Couples

Sometimes I feel like the odd man out. It seems that everywhere I go people are coupled up. All the kids have father’s in the home, it may not be their birth father, but they have a male presence in their home. It makes me sad that we don’t have that. It also makes it hard to go places, I’m always the only single person. I’m not sure how that happened, I know lots of single women but it seems that when I see them, it’s because a bunch of us single women get together. Considering how common single parents … Continue reading

Happiest Toddler on the Block

I have heard of Dr. Harvey Karp, but I haven’t read any of his books. I’ve recommended his books to many parents of infants and toddlers, but I haven’t dipped my toe in the water yet. It’s really silly that I haven’t read his books, especially since there are also DVDs that tell you everything you need to know to have a happy baby and a well behaved toddler. Dr. Harvey Karp is the author of The Happiest Baby on the Block and The Happiest Toddler on the Block in addition to others. Even though I haven’t yet read any … Continue reading

Hollywood Couples News—Shocking and Not So Shocking

SHOCKING Not only shocking for a Hollywood couple, but for warring couples in general. Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn have apparently decided to bury the hatchet and actually work on their marriage instead of throwing it away. Court documents show that the superstar pair just put the brakes on their divorce proceedings. According to TV’s “Extra,” a court clerk dismissed the couple’s divorce petition at their request earlier this week. Madonna’s ex-husband initially filed for divorce from Wright Penn on December 7, 2007 after 11 years of marriage but his petition was later dismissed. Then, three days later, Wright … Continue reading

Hollywood Couples Calling It Quits

So much for their rumored summer wedding… Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson have gone their separate ways. The 39-year-old actor and the 28-year-old actress reportedly split just before Memorial Day weekend. According to PEOPLE magazine, the two are “still friends” but are no longer romantically involved. No word on what caused the split, but the timing seems a bit odd (at least to those who had been hinting of a summer wedding between the golden haired pair). After all, it was just a few months ago that the two (who met when filming 2006’s “You, Me, and Dupree”) went public … Continue reading

Couples: We Got Along Great Before We Met

It all began in a chat room. We started babbling at each other and we just hit it right off. Every day when I logged in, I did a who to see if he was around and I’d send a message to say hi. It wasn’t long before we were matched on each other’s messenger lists and whoever was on first always got that first instant message sent right away. It rocked. I loved coming home from work to seeing him online where we could catch up. We liked to chat about the same movies, the same books and sometimes … Continue reading

Grandparents & Your Toddler

Grandparents are a vital part of your toddler’s existence. My family has a saying – our family belongs to our kids – not the other way around. Your toddler will benefit from the relationships with the extended family in a multitude of ways. Of course, you as the parents, are the final arbiters of who is and isn’t safe to be around your toddler. Visits & More If your toddler’s grandparents are not local, then it’s important to plan two or three trips per year, every year. Whether the grandparents come to visit you or you go to visit them. … Continue reading
