Obama Girls Going Hollywood?

Thanks to their father's new job, we know President-elect Barack Obama's two young daughters are headed to Washington, but if the folks at Disney have their way, Malia and Sasha Obama may have a chance to take Hollywood by storm as well.

In a statement released earlier this week execs at the Disney Channel (one of the Obama girls' favorite TV networks) invited the newest first children the opportunity to appear on the mega-popular hit series "Hannah Montana."

"We're pleased that Malia and Sasha are fans and, as long as their parents say it's OK, they are invited to the set of Hannah Montana and all Disney Channel shows, for a guest role or a visit, anytime," the Disney Channel says in a statement.

The statement from Disney follows a personal invite from Billy Ray Cyrus, father of the show's star Miley Cyrus for Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, to take part in an upcoming "Hannah Montana" episode of their choice.

During the campaign Obama's daughters made it no secret that they were huge "Hannah Montana" fans. On several occasions the girls' mother, Michelle publicly stated that Malia and Sasha were not unlike millions of other girls their age, who were obsessed with the tween singing sensation.

Asked to comment on the Disney offer, a source within the Obama campaign didn't dismiss the opportunity for the soon-to-be first daughters to share screen time with their entertainment idol saying, "It's a very generous invitation."

Even if Malia Obama doesn't take Disney up on its offer, the 10-year-old is already making waves of her own.

According to news reports, shortly after the fifth grader appeared in Grant Park on Election Night donning a bubble hem crimson dress, Malia wannabes raced to stores to get identical versions.

One newspaper reported that Michelle Obama purchased the Biscotti Girls Precious Jewels Christmas Party Dress with Bubble Hem from Nordstrom, and then made some minor changes, such as adding a matching cardigan. Malia's mom also replaced the jeweled belt with low-key velvet one and added a broach closure.

The dress retails for $110 and was shipped to Nordstrom, The Best Dressed Child, and Neiman Marcus. The bad news is the dress sold-out within two days of Malia wearing it on Election Night. But the good news is the manufacturer recently announced that it has located the fabric to make additional dresses and will have them back in stores within three weeks, just in time for the holiday season.
