Rick Santorum’s Comments on Health Insurance

The Republican candidate’s campaigns continue. Rick Santorum has been declared the winner of the Minnesota primary, the Colorado non-binding caucus, and the Missouri “beauty contest”. Santorum spoke a lot about health insurance in his victory speech. One of the reasons why it is important for a candidate to win a primary is because of the delegates. The candidate who wins a state primary will get the votes of the delegates of that state. This is important because eventually, the Republican party will have to select one of the many candidates who are running. It is the delegates who vote. The … Continue reading

Bad Dads? You Decide

I know a dad who pays more money for airlines tickets to see his girlfriend than he does in child support. He also willingly shells out more cash to wine and dine said girlfriend in the course of three days than he does to feed his own child in an entire month. That’s on top of repeatedly placing the child in dangerous situations and consistently ignoring the child. So, does this make the guy a bad dad? He certainly doesn’t think so, and I would venture to guess that fellow fathers Jon Gosselin and Mel Gibson would agree. The aforementioned … Continue reading

Woody Harrelson Sees Zombies

I have always like Woody Harrelson, from his television career on “Cheers” to his movie career with such films as “White Men Can’t Jump” and “No Country for Old Men.” But, I realize that in real life, Harrelson is a bit…different. This past Wednesday, Harrelson had an altercation with a photographer at the La Guardia airport in New York. The TMZ photographer was taking a video of Harrelson and his daughter as they went down an escalator to leave the terminal. The first video ends with Harrelson reaching for the camera. Fortunately for the photographer, who remains unidentified, he had … Continue reading

Katie Holmes’ New $43K Makeover and an Unexpected Hollywood Miracle

Recession? What recession? While the rest of the world (or at least us non-Hollywood types) is pinching pennies in these tough economic times, Tom Cruise’s wife is spending like there’s no tomorrow. Then again, maybe, Katie Holmes’ $43,000 makeover is just what the economy needs to help stimulate it. It’s just too bad she couldn’t drop the dough in her home country. According to reports, Holmes new longer do comes courtesy of some talented hair stylists in Japan. The UK’s Daily Mail claims Holmes shelled out £30,000 – which at today’s exchange rate comes out to more than $43,000 – … Continue reading

Josh Brolin’s Brawl

In case you have not heard, there was a fight at the Stray Cat Club in Shreveport, LA last Saturday. Now, this might not be of much importance other than it involved actor Josh Brolin. Brolin has been in Shreveport for the last couple of months filming the latest Oliver Stone film W. If you cannot guess whom that one is about, it is about President George W. Bush, with Brolin playing the current president. Rumors say that word got out that Brolin, co-star Jeffrey Wright (who plays Colin Powell in the film), and five others from the film crew … Continue reading

Who’s Your Favorite Movie Villain? Part Three

Continuing with the movie villain thread, another one of my personal favorites was Joaquin Phoenix’s Commodus from Gladiator. In love with his own sister and having killed his father to obtain his title, he wanted to squelch Russell Crowe’s character Maximus so he could be in complete control of Rome. Joaquin definitely deserved his Oscar nod for this villainous performance (and he looked good while pulling it off!). Not all the villains listed on Entertainment Weekly’s top 50 were human. There were four animated villains – Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, Shere Khan from The … Continue reading

Celebrity Updates: It’s All About the Babies

Well, this explains a lot… Ever since Dennis Quaid’s newborn twins were accidentally given a near-fatal overdose of the blood thinner Heparin by staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles last fall I (along with millions of others) wondered why the actor chose not to sue the hospital for negligence. After all, Quaid and his wife took almost instant legal action against the drug maker for not labeling the blood thinner correctly. So, why let the hospital off the hook? The famous couple finally answered that question a few days ago. Apparently, the Quaid’s are not letting Cedars off … Continue reading

80th Annual Academy Awards – The Winners!

I have to admit that with a three year old, I rarely get to see movies in the theatre anymore. This can be painful for me as most Academy Award nominated films are not out on DVD before the time the ceremony airs. But, it seems that each year, I get to see one nominated movie and put all my money on that one. So far, my husband and I are three for three. We did get to see Crash two years ago and last year, we were fortunate enough to see The Departed. This year, I had to put … Continue reading
