Men’s Fashion Week

Just days after the death of legendary fashion designer Gianfranco Ferre his colleagues and fans gathered to pay tribute to him in Italy during men’s fashion week. A teary-eyed crowd gave a standing ovation to pay honor to the late designer at the presentation of his summer menswear collection. The show took place exactly a week after the 62-year old designer died of a brain hemorrhage in a Milan hospital. Famous Fashion Designer Dies

The man known as the “architect of fashion” has died. According to news reports, Gianfranco Ferre, the Italian designer acclaimed for his sculpted shapes and his reign at Christian Dior, is dead tonight. He was 62. The announcement was made within days of his arrival at a hospital in Milan. Doctors say Ferre suffered a massive brain hemorrhage. His death prompted top designers from around the world to issue statements regarding the impact Ferre made on the fashion world. Fashion Week: It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over

Tina Turner was there, as was famed film director Robert Wilson, and scores of other fashionistas. Fashion Week has moved to Milan… and trendsetters are jostling for front row seats at some of the week’s most highly anticipated shows, including Giorgio Armani’s. The famed designer drew a bevy of VIP’s when he showed off his Fall/Winter 2007 collection on Monday. His creations focused on muted shades with a myriad of glistening sequins. New York Fashion Week—That’s A Wrap!

Another New York Fashion Week is officially in the books. The event wrapped up Friday with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, previewing their fall collections. Tommy Hilfiger returned to his preppy roots for his fall collection. The models in his show sashayed down the runway in classic tweeds, cable-knit sweaters, plaids and peacoats. Fur and fashion. Mention those two words in the same sentence around PETA supporters and you can bet the fur will be flying. But, on the runways of New York Fashion Week, fur has turned into (gasp!) a must-have item for fall—good looking fake fur, that is. Leave it to designer Marc Bouwer to send models down the runway in mink minidresses.
