New Developments in the Madeleine McCann Caseby Libby Pelham | More from this Blogger 23 Apr 2009 05:37 AM It has been almost two years since little Madeleine McCann disappeared from her family's Praia da Luz resort room in Portugal. While two years is a long time, her parents Kate and Gerry are still hoping to find her. The couple was in the U.S. today to film a special episode of the "Oprah Winfrey Show." The show will air on May 4th, which is the two year anniversary of the disappearance of Madeleine. The show will feature a digitally-constructed photo of how Madeleine may look now. The couple visited the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, Va. Before taping the Oprah show. The British newspaper The Sun is reporting that a new suspect has emerged in the case. The family hired its own investigators to look over the official police files. In the files, they found the testimony of a witness that saw a man loitering that night near where the McCann family was staying. On May 7th, a documentary titled "Madeleine Was Here" will air on UK television. The documentary will reconstruct the case and what went on that night. Matthew Oldfield, who was with the couple that night, will talk about how he went into the room to check on the McCann children, which also included Madeleine's two year old twin siblings. Jane Tanner will also appear in the documentary, talking about the man with long hair that she saw that night walking way from the resort carrying a child. The executive director, Steve Anderson, feels that the documentary "has exclusive and significant access to the private investigation into Madeleine's disappearance." He hopes that when people see this documentary, someone's memory of what went on that night will be jarred. The McCanns, who were once suspects in their daughter's disappearance, have vowed to never give up searching for Madeleine, despite the fact that the case was closed in July 2008. However, Gerry McCann has admitted that the fund set up to help find Madeleine may run out of money by the end of this year. Michele Cheplic (37339) 23 Apr 2009 07:23 AMI wonder how come it took this long for them to appear on Oprah? Libby Pelham (12876) 23 Apr 2009 07:55 PMI don't know Michele. I just find it sad that there seems to be so little in the way of clues for this case. Discuss this article
