The Crippled Lamb

This is another one to remember in December! The “Crippled Lamb” movie is based on the book written by Max Lucado, who is known as one of the best Christian authors. The story revolves around the birth of Jesus and God’s special plan for one lame lamb. The lamb, Joshua was born crippled. He has a difficult time keeping up with the other sheep and lambs in the herd due to his limp. Joshua would love more than anything to be big and strong and fast like the others. He feels that he was cheated by his disability. In one … Continue reading

Annabelle’s Wish

Print this article or place it in your favorites for December! “Annabelle’s Wish” is a wonderful movie to embrace during the Christmas season. While my children and I love the movie anytime of the year, it is a heartwarming tale that takes place during the holidays and features no other than Santa Claus. Annabelle’s Wish is an animated movie that revolves around the story of Billy, a young boy living with his grandfather. His aunt wishes to take him away but Billy wants to stay. Billy, who suffered from a fire accident, cannot speak and Annabelle helps his dreams come … Continue reading

Couples and Christmastime Traditions

I’ve been so busy this month “doing” Christmas that whatever spirit I’ve had has been forced so far. But tonight during dinner Elf was on. As Wayne and I sat merrily cracking away on our crab legs (Publix had them on sale…Yum!), one of our little trees winked back at me, and I laughed at Will Ferrell’s antics as Buddy the Elf, I felt the real Christmas spirit finally taking hold. My stress started melting away and I realized I could suddenly breathe a little easier. There’s not much left to do except enjoy the holiday. The last big Christmas … Continue reading

Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

I started this blog earlier this afternoon, and my computer kept shutting down on me while I was writing. It was a shame, really, because this is truly a marvelous movie and the thought of not getting to share it with you had me all depressed. But my husband worked his marvelous magic and now we’re up and running again. Heather and Libby watch “Miracle on 34th Street” every year. Let’s take a closer look and discover why it continues to be such a holiday favorite year after year. Natalie Wood stars as Susan Walker, a young girl who has … Continue reading

Mr. Krueger’s Christmas (1980)

My very first memories of this movie take me back to the Visitor’s Center on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was about five, and we settled into the plush seats, knowing we were about to see something special. Jimmy Stewart stars as Willie Krueger, a widowed janitor who lives in the basement of the apartment building where he works. He’s spent the day sweeping pine needles out of the lobby as the tenants brought their trees up to their apartments, and now he’s ready to get his own place decorated for the day. His apartment is small … Continue reading

The Santa Clause (1994)

Comedian Tim Allen stars in this modern Christmas classic about a man by the name of Scott Calvin who works at a toy factory. He is divorced and has a young son named Charlie, and they are scheduled to spend Christmas Eve together. However, the after-work party keeps Scott from being on time, making Charlie even more sure that Christmas is ruined. Scott can’t even put together a decent meal, and they end up eating at Denny’s. Scott tucks Charlie into bed after reading him the Christmas story, only to be awakened a short time later by a thumping on … Continue reading

Author Review: Charles M. Schulz

We know Charles M. Schulz best as the creator of the “Peanuts” comic strip. I thought it would be interesting to take a closer look into the life of this highly talented man. As a child, he was moved up two half-grades, and became the youngest in his class when he reached high school. He was fairly shy and isolated, perhaps because of this age difference, but also perhaps because of a natural tendency. Discovering a talent, he began taking correspondence courses in art. In 1943, he was drafted into the Army and was sent to Europe to serve his … Continue reading

Movies on Base vs. Out in Town

Many families will be hitting up the movies theaters this holiday season. For two reasons, one the kids will be out of school for next three weeks and have nothing else to do. Two, families tend to watch at least one movie in a theater during the holiday season. Maybe it’s to become a family once again since throughout the year you’ve been busy with work and school. Either way it works for everyone, kids enjoy watching movies and getting the snacks and the parents family. This brings one question for those military families. Will you watch the movie at … Continue reading

I love the movie It’s a Wonderful Life.
