Movie Misquotes - Part 3

Just like Jimi Hendrix's "Scuse me while I kiss this guy," movies too have been misquoted. Here are the last of the movie misquotes that I can find. Did I forget any that you know of?

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?

The Queen from 1937's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs actually called it a "Magic mirror."

"He's Alive!"

Fans of the original Frankenstein and those that love the movie Weird Science, which shows a clip of this line will actually know that the real line is "It's Alive!"

"Come up and see me sometime."

Ah, Mae West - she was something else, who could be blamed if they were busy watching her and not listening to exactly what she said. In She Done Him Wrong, she really said, "Why don't you come up sometime 'n see me?"

"Top of the world, Ma!"

Is James Cagney one of the most misquote actors? Maybe not, but he has found two places on this list. This time, it is for the 1949 film White Heat. Rather than "Top of the world, Ma!" Cagney actually said, "Made it, Ma. Top of the world!"

"May the Force be with you."

What? This Star Wars quote is incorrect as well? Yes, it would seem so. What Obi Wan Kenobi actually said was "The Force will be with you...always" and "Remember, the Force will be with you...always." Somehow, I don't think this one will ever go away though.

"My mama always said, 'Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.'"

More of those persnickety grammar people pointed out that this quote is actually "My mama always said, 'Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.'" Just get one verb wrong and your whole quote is shot!

"Houston, we have a problem"

If you think the right answer is "Houston, we've got a problem," you are still wrong. The real quote from Apollo 13 is "Houston, we've had a problem."

And finally, one of my favorite movie misquotes. Norma Desmond didn't say "I'm ready for my closeup, Mr. De Mille," but rather "All right, Mr. De Mille, I'm ready for my closeup" in the 1950 classic Sunset Boulevard.
