Movie Misquotes - Part 2

I threw out a few movie misquotes in one of my last blogs, so here are a few more. Are you guilty of any misquoting?

"I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Toto."

Yes, it is true that as Dorothy, Judy Garland never uttered these words in The Wizard of Oz. What she actually said was "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas any more."

"I want to suck your blood."

While many of us associate the quote "I want to suck your blood" with Dracula, Bela Lugosi never said that in the 1931 version of Dracula. However, Tim Burton did use it in the 1994 movie Ed Wood.

"Hello, Clarice"

Silence of the Lambs' Dr. Hannibal Lecter was oh-so polite to young FBI apprentice Clarice Starling, but rather than saying "Hello," he actually said, "Good evening, Clarice" when she first visited him in prison.

"Frankly, Scarlett, I don't give a damn."

This one puzzled me a bit as I know what Rhett Butler actually said in Gone with the Wind was "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn," but apparently some misquote the line.

"Do you feel lucky, punk?"

A favorite quote by Clint Eastwood fans, what Dirty Harry really said was "You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya punk?"

"If you build it, they will come."

Actually, this one is just a pronoun away from being correct. Rather than saying "If you build it, they will come," the exact quote is "If you build it, he will come."

"Luke, I am your father"

These are the words that shocked Star Wars fans all over the world when Darth Vader uttered them in The Empire Strikes Back - or at least something like that. He actually told Luke Skywalker "No, I am your father." Oh well, we got the general jest of the line.

Stay tuned tomorrow for the final installment of movie misquotes!
