More Short Hollywood Marriages

The last blog was of unbelievably short marriages - some only lasting hours and days. But here are a few more that lasted a little longer.

Actress Courtney Thorne-Smith married scientist Andrew Conrad in June of 2000. It was embarrassing to In Style Weddings magazine when Thorne-Smith graced the cover in a beautiful wedding dress, only a week after announcing the dissolve of her seven-month marriage. Everyone was surprised when Pretty Woman Julie Roberts married country crooner Lyle Lovett. An unlikely pair, their marriage lasted a little less than two years, although there are rumors that the no-so-happy couple really parted after only seven weeks together. Talk about your odd couples, actress Robin Givens and boxer Mike Tyson managed to pack a lot of dysfunction into one short year of marriage, including physical abuse (that started before the wedding), reported infidelity, and restraining orders.

Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton were once the hottest, if not the oddest, couple in Hollywood. They used every movie premiere to show their affection for one another and even wore vials that contained each other's blood. Apparently, Billy Bob had enough love for Angelina, but not for her newly adopted son Maddox as they divorced soon after his adoption, separating after two years of marriage.

Rebound marriages rarely work - in Hollywood or real life. Jennifer Lopez married backup dancer Cris Judd in September 2001, just months after separating from long time boyfriend, singer Sean Combs. Stating that Cris brought "serenity into my world," it was apparently short-lived serenity as their marriage dissolved after less than a year together. Not one to learn from her mistakes, JLo was dating Ben Affleck, another relationship that ended in disaster, just weeks after splitting from Judd.

Janet Jackson had a couple of strange marriages, even by Hollywood standards. She was married to singer James DeBarge for four months when she was only 18. Then there was her "boyfriend" Rene Elizondo. Some women might have referred to Rene as their husband, seeing as how he and Janet were married for 9 years and no one knew until they filed for divorce.

Maybe it makes us feel a little better knowing that even those that seemingly have everything in life, have trouble in something as common as marriage.
