Michael Jackson Fashion Designer?by Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 08 Jun 2008 10:18 PM He hasn't been in the press for anything positive in years (dare I say decades), but Michael Jackson is hoping his new career venture will change that. Apparently the King of Pop is ditching the tunes (and why not; he hasn't had a hit since the 90s) and turning to fashion. The singing superstar, who made wearing a single white glove all the rage back when Monchichis were popular is reportedly teaming up with Ed Hardy designer - and pal - Christian Audigier to launch a new line this fall. Audigier recently told PEOPLE magazine of the collaborative effort, "It's the merging of the King of Pop with the king of fashion. Something explosive is going to happen." We'll just see about that. Upscale boutique Kitson has already committed to carrying the line exclusively. Owners there say they are thrilled to be carrying Jackson's collection adding that since the singer has such a huge fan base people will think it's hip to wear his line. Another unlikely addition to the world of fashion is hockey star turned Vogue intern Sean Avery. The studly athlete has moved from lowly intern to guest editor at Men's Vogue in just a few short weeks. The New York Ranger is keeping an online journal at the magazine's website where he dishes about his passion for fashion: "To me it's simple: I like clothes. Always have," he says. "I don't watch sports. I don't read about sports... Over breakfast in hotels when the Rangers are on the road, I read the Style section in The New York Times." Avery, who swapped his million-dollar Rangers salary for minimum wage (for the summer, at least), reveals a reduction in pay is nothing compared to the incredible experiences he is gaining. The pretty boy athlete also waxes philosophic about the "amazing time" he had assisting at his first photo shoot. "As I watched the shoot progress," he writes, "I had to wonder: Was the feeling this designer had - the pride of having his creations shot for the pages of Vogue - anything like the feeling I had after we beat the Devils in round one?" You have to wonder what Avery's teammates are saying about the hockey star's new gig?
