It took a Hollywood legend to get striking Writers Guild of America picketers to briefly put down their signs. Elizabeth Taylor apparently hasn’t lost her magic touch given her affect on determined writers who began their work stoppage more than a month ago. Did you ever use the phrase “I’ll have what she’s having?” I know I have and I haven’t even see all of the 1989 film When Harry Met Sally. But, I have certainly seen the famous scene over and over in clips through the years. Well, if you’ve ever used that phrase, you have Nora Ephron to thank for it. Ephron, an author, director, producer, filmmaker, novelist, and screenwriter, died this week from pneumonia brought on by acute myeloid leukemia. She was 71. Kevin Costner may be putting diaper duty on hold to return to the big screen in a sequel to his award-winning baseball movie “Bull Durham.” According to reports, Costner has been meeting with the film’s director Ron Shelton to discuss the possibility of resurrecting his Crash Davis character in a sequel to the 1988 hit movie. While Marcia Cross was lobbying Congress and Eva Longoria was fending off pregnancy rumors leaders from the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers finally began talking to each other again this week. Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will join NBC’s late-night hosts in returning with new shows next month. Leno and O’Brien Returning to Late-Night TV

Fans of Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien will get to start 2008 with fresh laughs from their favorite late-night comedians after all. Executives at NBC just announced that both the “Tonight” show and “Late Night” will return to TV with new episodes beginning January 2nd, almost exactly two months to the day after the Hollywood writers strike sent them into repeats.
