Celebrity Auctions: Ponies and Panties

Last year my young daughter was totally into My Little Pony. She collected a ton of the 4-inch-tall plastic toys; watched the animated movies; and had grandma send her the My Little Pony Treasury so she could read about the ponies’ adventures and learn who was who in Ponyland. That lasted for about 6 months… then it was so long ponies, hello Strawberry Shortcake. Which means I’m off the hook for this next celebrity charity auction. As tempting as it may be, I won’t be bidding on the 18-inch versions of My Little Pony being hand decorated by some of … Continue reading

Dannielynn Turns One With A Royal Rockin’ Bash

Her mom always treated her like a princess so it was only fitting that little Dannielynn Birkhead would celebrate her 1st birthday like royalty. Anna Nicole Smith’s only daughter was the toast of Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday. That’s where her dad Larry Birkhead hosted a huge soiree at socialite Tricia Barnstable Brown’s mansion. Do you remember what you did to celebrate your first-born’s first birthday? My daughter smashed cake into her mouth and fell asleep before her gifts were opened. Compare that with Dannielynn’s bash, which featured a princess theme complete with a “castle as big as the house,” white … Continue reading

Celebs New Gigs

Well, you had to see this coming. He may be the only other man involved in the Anna Nicole Smith saga, besides Larry Birkhead, who emerged smiling. I’m referring to Judge Larry Seidlin… the wisecracking, tear-stained, snarky, former New York cab driver who presided over the Anna Nicole Smith case. During the court proceeding Seidlin frequently threw out comedic one-liners and referred to the lawyers with nicknames such as “Tex” and “California.” At the time, many observers called Seidlin’s behavior an act and maintained he was angling for his own television program ala “Judge Judy.” Well, guess what? They were … Continue reading

Seeing Green

Green palms abound as celebrities and celebrity wannabes dig deep for charities, cars, and court appearances: PAUL NEWMAN The charitable actor is donating $10 million to his alma mater to help start a scholarship fund. Paul Newman says Kenyon College is a place he holds near to his heart. The actor graduated from the private liberal arts school located in central Ohio in 1949 with a degree in drama and economics and now wants to help others further their education there. “My days there were among the happiest and most formative of my life,” Newman said last week. “I believe … Continue reading

Star-Studded Derby

My 3-year-old daughter watched her first Kentucky Derby today. She put on her purple pillbox hat and stood in front of the TV leaning on her Easy Ride’Um brown stick horse. (The image still makes me smile.) The gates opened, the horses took off, and we hooted and hollered. It was great fun. Okay, perhaps, not the same kind of fun that was had by the Hollywood stars who flew east for the Derby festivities… but fun for us non-celebrity types. For days the media has been reporting on the pre-Derby parties. You know the ones that included appearances by … Continue reading

Celebrity Updates: Regis Returns, Dannielynn Says Bye-Bye to the Bahamas, and More

REGIS RETURNS He’s baaaack! Talk show host Regis Philbin returned to his day job (and a standing ovation by hundreds of fans) today—six weeks after undergoing triple heart bypass surgery. Did you get to see any part of his return on “Live With Regis and Kelly?” I saw bits and pieces and agree with everyone who expressed amazement at how well Philbin looks. (Hard to believe he’s 75!) As promised David Letterman, host of CBS’”Late Show,” was Philbin’s first guest. Letterman called it “payback time.” (Philbin was a guest host when Letterman underwent heart bypass surgery in 2000). Philbin mentioned … Continue reading
