Lance Armstrong Defies Odds Again

The words “super” and “sperm” come to mind right about now. If you haven’t already heard cycling champ Lance Armstrong and his girlfriend Anna Hansen are expecting their first child together. Ordinarily, this type of star baby news would garner a few lines under the “milestones” portion of celebrity rags, but not with Armstrong. The uber athlete, who won seven straight Tour de France crowns after battling testicular cancer, is back on the front page of major publications because of his superior swimmers. According to Armstrong’s handlers, the superhuman cyclist, who has the lung capacity of a whale, has defied … Continue reading

Celebrity Marathon Runners

Celebrities were out in full force in New York today. Not for a movie premiere or an awards show; rather, a handful of determined stars were sweating it out in the Big Apple for the 2008 New York City Marathon. This year’s biggest celeb finisher was actor Ryan Reynolds. Scarlett Johansson’s better half crossed the finish line in 3 hours, 50 minutes—-better than the four-hour target he was aiming for. “I’m still standing. I’m very excited about that,” Reynolds told reporters after finishing the 26.2-mile course. “It was an incredible experience.” Unlike some other race participants who entered to test … Continue reading

Lance Armstrong’s Run for the White House?

I willing admit that I find Lance Armstrong attractive. How can I deny it now when I’ve already publicly professed my feelings for him in numerous blogs. However, I have never been keen on the way he handles his love life. From splitting with his wife (and the mother of their three young children) to walking out on his former fiancée Sheryl Crow, then dumping his last celebrity designer girlfriend, hooking up with Hollywood nymph Ashley Olsen and now actress Kate Hudson (who is young enough to be his daughter—okay, I’m exaggerating). All that drama aside the guy is an … Continue reading

Lance Armstrong Strikes Again

I was wondering what Lance Armstrong was doing with his free time these days… Now I know! He’s courting Kate Hudson. If there was any way to snuff out rumors that she was getting ready to walk down the aisle with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Owen Wilson, showing up on Armstrong’s arm three nights in a row would be it. It is the headline of the weekend: “Armstrong and Hudson More than Just Friends!” I’m not sure I’m buying this one. Yes, it’s hard to deny that the seven-time Tour de France winner and the actress have been getting chummy … Continue reading

Katie’s Marathon Controversy

Where there are celebrities there is controversy. And she thought she was just taking a jog around Central Park. Less than a week after actress Katie Holmes trudged 26.2 miles in the New York City Marathon her accomplishment is being tarnished by a wave of angry runners who were not allowed to compete in the prestigious running event. Tens of thousands of avid runners sent angry correspondences to race officials asking why Suri’s mom was admitted to the race when 60,000 hopefuls were denied. According to TV’s Access Hollywood Tom Cruise’s better half was allowed to run as a VIP. … Continue reading

Lance Armstrong vs. the New York City Marathon—Take Two

Personally, I don’t know how he mustered enough courage to appear on the streets of New York after displaying some, uh, highly questionable pre-marathon behavior. But, I guess when you are pounding the pavement with nearly 40,000 other runners you figure you’re just a number. Only, Lance Armstrong was anything but just a number. In fact, the seven-time Tour de France champ wasn’t even issued a race number like the rest of the field. Rather, he ran with a bib that spelled out his famous first name. (Nothing like trying to stay inconspicuous.) But, at least this year the 36-year-old … Continue reading

The Ultimate Hollywood Odd Couple

Remember the good-looking guy in high school that every girl wanted to date? He was the older, untouchable senior who made sophomore girls swoon and never had a steady girlfriend because, well, he didn’t have to. With so little of him to go around it wasn’t prudent for him to commit to a single female. Then, one day it happened. Stud muffin got a girlfriend and she turned out to be the equivalent of America Ferrera’s character on ABC’s “Ugly Betty.” That’s when his stock plummeted and tongues started wagging. That’s about the only analogy I can come up with … Continue reading

New York’s Most Popular Seasonal Activities

In less than two weeks New York City will host the largest Halloween celebration in the country. I wrote about the Village Halloween Parade in a previous blog and detailed how more than 2 million people turn out each October 31st to watch 50,000 enthusiastic costumed characters, more than 50 marching bands, and dozens of giant puppets make their way up Sixth Avenue. Many consider the spooktacular spectacle the kick off to the Big Apple’s holiday season. In the coming weeks the famous city will be packed with visitors looking to take in the magical holiday festivities that New York … Continue reading

Breaking Up Celebrity Style

Now who’s going to cheer him on when he runs the New York City marathon? Oh, wait… the rest of the world. It’s not clear whether fashion designer Tory Burch will turn out in her hometown to support Lance Armstrong when he runs the 26.2-mile race next month now that they are no longer a couple. Yes, another one bites the dust for the seven-time Tour de France champ. According to the New York Post, the cycling warrior and Burch are no longer an item. Burch’s spokesperson told the newspaper that the breakup was “amicable” and that “geography” was to … Continue reading
