Michael Jackson’s Legacy

Poor Farrah Fawcett. She was certainly a star, but her death was somewhat overshadowed by the same-day passing of a megastar – Michael Jackson. Three years later, many are remembering Jackson and wondering about his legacy. It’s sad that Jackson passed away just as he seemed on the verge of a big comeback. His career was waning, although some would kill for such “waning” success. He wasn’t a hit machine like he had been in the ‘80s and scandals had tarnished the once glowing crown of the self-proclaimed “King of Pop.” But, he was preparing hard for his best yet … Continue reading

The family of Michael Jackson has been in the news lately. There are plenty of news articles speculating what the future of his three children will be like. Many news articles have been about the trial of Michael’s doctor, Conrad Murray. I thought it would be interesting to take a look at Michael Jackson’s family tree, since he is still very much in the public eye. Michael Jackson’s mother is Katherine Esther Jackson, and his father is Joseph “Joe” Walter. Katherine and Joe had a total of ten children. Maureen Reillette Jackson, “Rebbie” was born in 1950. Lloyd’s of London Not Paying for “This is It” Tour

Lloyd’s of London have sued AEG Live and Michael Jackson’s company because Lloyd’s of London wants to nullify a $17.5 million dollar policy that promoters took out. Underwriters feel that the promotors lied about the singer’s medical history when the policy was taken out. In 2009, Michael Jackson was preparing for his “This Is It” tour. This was going to be a series of 50 concerts that would be taking place at the O2 arena, in London, England. The tour had been described as his “London comeback” tour. Tickets for this tour sold out really quickly, and things looked like … Continue reading

Movie icon Elizabeth Taylor died today at the age of 79. The actress had been in Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for six weeks due to congestive heart failure. Where do you start a blog about a superstar like Elizabeth Taylor? Do you talk about her beauty, her battle with addiction and weight gain, her award winning acting, her many husbands and scandalous affairs, her philanthropy, her seemingly odd friendship with Michael Jackson, her love of animals? One thing is for sure – Elizabeth Taylor lived life to the fullest. Even though she went through some scandalous times, Taylor died … Continue reading

Jon Gosselins Mantrums and Michael Jackson’s Millions

Not only does Jon Gosselin have soon to be ex-wife problems (with his babies mama Kate), but he also apparently has current girlfriend problems. Hailey Glassman, the daughter of the plastic surgeon that did Kate’s tummy tuck after the birth of their sextuplets, has publicly said that Jon is like “Jekyll and Hyde” and that he throws what she calls “mantrums.” For those that don’t know, that is a male tantrum. Hailey also told “The Insider” in a two part interview that Jon takes his anger out on her and is emotionally abusive, but she still loves him. For his … Continue reading

It seems that lately two things dominate the pop culture news – Jon and Kate Gosselin and Michael Jackson. Even though the burial was a private affair for family and friends only, there was still fanfare. Rev. Al Sharpton was there along with Elizabeth Taylor, Lisa Marie Presley, Gladys Knight, Quincy Jones, Barry Gordy, Chris Tucker, … Continue reading

As we all get ready to head into a long Labor Day weekend, I am going to take time to review the pop culture events that happened over the last week. Two celebrities were buried this weekend. The Latest Michael Jackson News

It has been a little over a month since Michael Jackson died, but the craziness around the story still continues. What’s true? What’s not true? It seems as if no one really knows, but here are a few of the stories out there: The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has issued the news that the Jackson autopsy results will not be released this week as first expected. No reason was given for the delay of the release, but it may be another week before the world learns of the toxicology report. Jackson, according to executors of the estate, took care … Continue reading

Recycling Vinyl Record Album Covers

When CDs first came out, I was reluctant to jump on board. Part of it was that I was just getting older and didn’t like switching to new technology, but it wasn’t entirely that. Part of it was the fact that a vinyl record to me was an experience. The album cover art was big, not all scrunched up in a 5 x 5 inch space. Also, the record sleeve often contained more art, lyrics, or a combination of the two. I know many CDs have lyrics included, but honestly, you almost need a magnifying glass to read them! Just … Continue reading
