Kiefer Sutherland Is at It Again

Kiefer Sutherland has apparently learned nothing. He was involved Tuesday morning in a dispute on 99 Prince Street in downtown Manhattan. The New York Daily News is reporting that Sutherland was talking to Brooke Shields outside the Soho club SubMercer. The two were there for a party after the Met's Costume Institute Gala. Funny, Sutherland doesn't strike me as the Gala kind of guy.

Anyhow, Shields' friend Jack McCollough, a Proenza Schouler designer, apparently interrupted the conversation and Sutherland did what any normal person would do - he headbutted him.

Okay, I said that tongue in cheek. Before the headbutt, the men exchanged words, so perhaps Sutherland was justified in the headbutt. For her part, Shields was shoved during the scuffle, but unhurt. The same cannot be said for McCollough - he suffered a broken nose or a minor scratch, depending on which source you use. Proenza Schouler told PEOPLE that McCollough "would not hurt a fly" and that he is the victim of "a vicious, violent, unprovoked assault."

The event is under investigation by the NYPD and both Sutherland and Shields are supposed to be interview by the police about the incident. Sutherland could face third-degree assault charges.

Reportedly, McCollough told the NYPD that Sutherland was "drunk and obnoxious and wouldn't back down or be logical." He also said the actor "pulled this stupid wrestling move like a teenager."

Sutherland served seven weeks in jail for his second DUI offense in 2008. And, Sutherland is still on probation for that offense. If it is determined that he hit McCollough when unprovoked, he could be in violation of that probation. LA City attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan told PEOPLE "Our office intends to contact the NYPD and New York prosecutors to review the incident and determine whether Mr. Sutherland violated probation."

If he is found guilty of probation violation due to battery and intoxication, he could be facing another 48 days in jail.

It is sad. I like Kiefer as an actor and I don't have anything against not growing up, but he seems like the kind of person that can't just have one drink. Sad, but hopefully someday he will get his act together.
