Katie Holmes Dances and LeAnn Rimes Separatesby Libby Pelham | More from this Blogger 25 Jul 2009 02:29 PM
It wasn't that she was bad, but as Robert Thompson, the director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture put it, Katie did "a competent job." He did, however, point out that most of the "real movement" was done by "real dancers." I mean, I know Katie is or was on Broadway, but she was just okay for me. Geesh, that sounds like a Randy Jackson critique - I've been watching way too much "American Idol!" Marc Berman of Mediaweek said that Katie appearing on "So You Think You Can Dance" was a "ratings ploy." Gee Marc, you think? I mean, I can't see Katie now without going "Oh, there is Mrs. Tom Cruise." Somewhere along the way, for me at least, she lost her own individuality and just became Tom's Stepford wife. And, I loved her in Wonder Boys, Go, and Pieces of April, so it is not as if I were never a fan. Like Berman said though, she had good intentions. She was on the show to promote the Dizzy Feet Foundation, which helps underprivileged kids get dancing scholarships. LeAnn Rimes may be dancing alone soon as she and hubby of seven years Dean Sheremet have separated. Or, has she just found a new partner? This separation comes on the heels of affair rumors between LeAnn and her "Northern Lights" co-star Eddie Cibrian. Actually the rumors have been swirling for four months now and in March, LeAnn admitted that she and Sheremet were having problems, but Cibrian was not the cause. Interestingly enough, Cibrian and his wife Brandi Glanville separated just a few days ago. I am sure this is all just a big coincidence, but it still sounds fishy to me! Both couples claim to be trying to work on their relationships.
