Green Musicians – Sting – Part 2

Growing up, The Police were one of my favorite bands. I think even as a teen, I picked up on their political and social messages. Yesterday, I was blogging about the activism of The Police’s lead singer Sting. In 1989, Along with his wife Trudie Styler and Kayapo Indian leader Raoni Metuktire, Sting founded the Rainforest Foundation Fund to help save the rainforests as well as the people who live in them. Each year, the charity holds a benefit concert at Carnegie Hall. Because of his efforts, a Columbian tree frog was named after him (Dendropsophus stingi). In October 1991, … Continue reading

Grey’s Anatomy – Season 3 (2007)

Grey’s Anatomy is a super smash of a hit that is known more for the scandals backstage involving Isaiah Washington and T.R. Knight than the storylines from Season 3. What Really Killed John Wayne?

As I was writing my last blog, in which I mentioned a new statue honoring John Wayne, I started thinking about a rumor I had heard years ago about what really killed him. Oh, there is no doubt it was cancer, but there is more information of which you may not be aware. In 1954, the 220 members of the cast and crew of The Conqueror rolled into St. George, Utah to begin filming. Mogul Howard Hughes thought Utah would pass for Mongolia. After all, the movie was a love story about Genghis Khan. Although director Dick Powell wanted Marlon … Continue reading

Juicy Hollywood Tidbits – May 11, 2007

Sting Loses Discrimination Case Sting may be an activist for world hunger, the rainforest, and human rights, but a judge recently ruled he and wife Trudie Styler sexually discriminated against their personal chef. The chef, Jane Martin, claimed she was fired when she became pregnant and the judge ordered the couple to pay a hefty, but as yet unknown, sum. Martin said Trudie forced her to work long hours and was angered when she took sick days. She had worked for the couple for eight years, but left in 2006. Trudie and Sting said they plan to appeal the judgment, … Continue reading
