Play With the “Dark Shadows” Family Tree!

Genealogy research can be extremely serious. It can also be used in ways that are just plain fun. A website called Kin2 will let you explore the family tree of the characters in the new “Dark Shadows” movie. Playing around with the genealogy of fictional characters is always amusing! Kin2 is the website created by a small company that is based in Utah. It grew out of a website called OneGreatFamily, (which is now 12 years old). OneGreatFamily lets users submit information about their ancestors to the website. It then works on matching them with the information that was submitted … Continue reading

Johnny Depp Supports Release of West Memphis Three

I’ve blogged before about the West Memphis Three. This is the name given to those found guilty of a terrible crime that sticks out in my mind because it happened just across the Mississippi River from my native Memphis. In 1993, three young boys were brutally murdered in West Memphis, Ark. In 1994, three teenagers – Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley – were convicted of the murders. Baldwin and Misskelley received life sentences while Echols was sentenced to die. Since those convictions, there has been nothing but controversy about this case. Some say that it was a witch … Continue reading

Woody Harrelson Sees Zombies

I have always like Woody Harrelson, from his television career on “Cheers” to his movie career with such films as “White Men Can’t Jump” and “No Country for Old Men.” But, I realize that in real life, Harrelson is a bit…different. This past Wednesday, Harrelson had an altercation with a photographer at the La Guardia airport in New York. The TMZ photographer was taking a video of Harrelson and his daughter as they went down an escalator to leave the terminal. The first video ends with Harrelson reaching for the camera. Fortunately for the photographer, who remains unidentified, he had … Continue reading

Johnny Depp Gives Away His Fedora

I have always loved Johnny Depp, every since he appeared in “21 Jumpstreet.” But, his reputation has not always been the best. Johnny has always been known for his choice in accepting quirky roles others would refuse. I mean can you see Leonardo DiCaprio as Edward Scissorhands? This need to go his own way with roles has led much of Hollywood to think he is a bit odd. During the early 90s, he had a few run-ins with the law. He was arrested in 1994 for damaging a $1,200 a night room at the Mark Hotel in New York City. … Continue reading
