Joan Rivers Roasts and Ryan O’Neal Regrets

Roasts are supposed to be harsh words from good friends that are meant in good humor and no one should know that any better than Joan Rivers. Joan found herself as the roastee at the latest installment of the Comedy Central Roast. The show will air on August 9th at 10:00 p.m. on Comedy Central and the emcee is none other than D-List celebrity Kathy Griffin. Joan took it all in good stride, promising that the show would be great. She said, “I was in shock at what they said” and added, “They call me evil, mean, and [a] plastic … Continue reading

Shaking Things Up at the Emmys and Taking Flight in Tennessee

SHAKING THINGS UP AT THE EMMYS Dare I say I am looking forward to this year’s Emmy Awards? Usually, I tune into to see who’s wearing what, and go about my chores while the show’s host and winners drone on in the background. This year, though, I think I might actually sit down and watch some of the festivities. Why the change of heart? I’m thinking this year might not be as boring as years past since there won’t be a single Emmy host this time around–there will be five. Tom Bergeron, of “Dancing With the Stars”; Ryan Seacrest, of … Continue reading

Returning to the Airwaves: Joan and Genie

She’s baaaack! If would rather undergo root canal than hear Joan Rivers’ cackle then you might not want to tune into the upcoming season of “The Celebrity Apprentice.” The 75-year-old comedienne says she has signed up to become real estate mogul Donald Trump’s next slackee. Though, producers for the NBC primetime show say they cannot confirm Rivers’ appearance until the show’s airdate gets closer. The reality TV series’ new season is set to be taped this fall and is scheduled to air next January. According to Rivers, Trump asked her to appear on last season’s show, but scheduling conflicts prevented … Continue reading

Lisa Rinna—-Dancing Queen

Okay, she wasn’t the first pick to replace new mom Samantha Harris on “Dancing with the Stars,” but now we may know why. Lisa Rinna is no longer competing for the mirrored disco ball trophy, but she’s still quick stepping with professional dance partner Louis Van Amstel. The actress has parlayed her “Dancing with the Stars” fame into a new gig that involves shaking and shimming with Average Joes. Rinna and Van Amstel have joined forces yet again on a venture that allows you to samba with the plump-lipped actress for $20. Oh, it’s no joke. Rinna made the announcement … Continue reading

“Dancing With The Stars” Needs A New Co-Host

Samantha Harris should have known better. The E! News correspondent and Dancing with the Stars co-host stated publicly (on numerous occasions) that she planned to appear on the popular ABC dance contest until mid-October, that’s when Harris was due to give birth to her first child. Tonight is the big season premiere of the show and Harris will be a no show… with good reason. Her new daughter decided she didn’t want to share her mom with the rest of the country. According to E! News, 33-year-old Harris and her husband, financial wholesaler Michael Hess, welcomed daughter Josselyn Sydney Hess … Continue reading

Emmy Thoughts: “What Was Up With That Stage?”

I can picture it now… a few months ago a summer intern working with Emmy show producers comes into work following an evening taking in Shakespeare’s Othello at a knock-off Globe Theatre in Burbank. He walks into a morning meeting where his bosses are kicking around ways to infuse “new life” into the 50-year plus telecast. “I have it,” the intern exclaims. “Build a theater-in-the-round stage in the Shrine Auditorium where ensemble casts are forced to sit together rather than scattered about.” “Hmmm…” the producers ponder before coming to the conclusion: “It’s so crazy it might just work.” Yeah, well, … Continue reading

Censors Get A Workout At The Emmys

Honestly, I thought there was something wrong with my TV. When the sound cut out in the middle of Ray Romano’s rant on what life has been like since his show went off the air, I instantly grabbed my TV remote and starting pressing the volume button. The volume numbers increased, but still no sound. It took me a good minute to figure out that the comedian had been censored. Whoever was in charge of pressing the bleep button at last night’s Emmy Awards sure got a workout. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he or she is nursing … Continue reading

Emmy Mania—Will You Be Watching?

In just a few hours hundreds of Hollywood’s elite will be strutting down the red carpet hoping they will end their evening clutching television’s highest honor—-the Emmy Award. Only this year, the red carpet is being tinged with a hint of “green.” As in eco-green. Yes, the entertainment industry is contributing to the global cause by launching a “Green with Emmy” campaign. (Clever.) Not only will the show’s Shrine Auditorium location be powered by renewable energy for the month of September (a combination of solar energy, wind energy and hydropower), but stars will also be gathering under a solar panel … Continue reading

Joan Rivers Gets The Boot From The Red Carpet—AGAIN!

Well, at least she won’t have to worry about finding the right dress… It’s half-true. The irreverent Joan Rivers will NOT be yukking it up on the red carpet tomorrow night preceding the Emmy Awards. Rivers and her daughter Melissa have been staples on the red carpet for years, but alas, it seems their reign has finally come to an end. According to the New York Post, after the TV Guide Channel dropped the comedienne and her daughter, Rivers desperately tried to get chummy with former employer E! in hopes of making a comeback there. The official word from E! … Continue reading

Celebrity Corner: Going, Going, Gone!

GOING She was going to perform for recovering soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, but instead singer and anti-war activist Joan Baez says she was told to take a hike. The 66-year-old folk singer revealed her feelings about the incident in a recent letter to the Washington Post. In it she wrote that she doesn’t know why she was not allowed to perform for the injured soldiers. “I have always been an advocate for nonviolence and I have stood as firmly against the Iraq war as I did the Vietnam War 40 years ago,” she wrote. “I realize now … Continue reading
