Katie Couric Scores First Interview with Hudson River Hero Pilot

Take that Matt Lauer! Less than a month after her former “Today” show co-anchor was scheduled to do a live interview with Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot who guided U.S. Airways Flight 1549 to that safe Hudson River landing, Katie Couric has swooped in and scored a huge coup. Score one for CBS. According to network execs, Couric plans to travel to Charlotte, North Carolina tomorrow to interview Sullenberger and his crew, who by the way, just appeared live at the Super Bowl in Tampa. Sullenberger, his co-pilot and two female flight attendants stood on the field at Raymond James … Continue reading

“The View” Picks New Co-Hosts

Okay, it’s not official, but several news outlets are reporting that the bigwigs over at ABC’s daytime chatfest “The View” have finally chosen two females to fill in the empty seats at the “Hot Topics” table. According to the Los Angeles Times, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd are about to hop into the hot seats. A formal announcement by show creator Barbara Walters is expected next week. The report comes after a year of musical chairs amongst the co-hosts. Star Jones Reynolds left the show in true drama queen fashion (she says she quit, producers say she was fired). In … Continue reading

Celeb Updates: Paris’s Least Favorite Color and Rosie’s Staying Put

Can you guess what it is? That’s right—-prison orange. According to her mother, Paris is “sick of orange.” But other than that Kathy Hilton says her daughter is doing well and is looking forward to being released from jail tomorrow. “I think she’s very, very excited to see the family,” the heiress’ mother told reporters on Saturday. Ma Hilton added that the party-girl was also looking forward to getting out of her orange prison uniform. Another of the socialite’s visitors (actress Ashley Scott of TV’s “Jericho”) told reporters that Paris can’t wait to get out and “eat.” How’s that for … Continue reading

Is “The View” Getting A Male Co-host?

For weeks rumors have been circulating about who will fill Rosie O’Donnell’s large shoes on ABC’s daytime chatfest “The View.” Media front runners (their names have tossed around by the press, not by “View” execs) include Kathy Griffin, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd – all of whom have regularly filled in as guest co-hosts in recent weeks. (They’d be fools to let Shepherd get away—she’s hilarious!) But, today, New York is buzzing about two names that have not made the list of serious female contenders—Mario Cantone and Ross Mathews. Shocking? Hardly. The two men have been frequent guests on the … Continue reading

New Career Moves For Female Stars

Wasn’t it Madonna who said the key to remaining in the spotlight is to constantly reinvent yourself? Seems as though some of her fellow stars are taking the Material Girl’s advice. JENNIFER ANISTON The 38-year-old former “Friends” actress is now the face of something purer than all that glitters in Tinseltown. Aniston has invested in bottled-water. It’s true; the star is now the face behind “smartwater” and will appear in posters and print ads promoting the beverage. But that’s not all; according to company executives, Aniston “co-created a limited-edition smartwater label,” which will be available in stores across the country … Continue reading

In “Ghost of a Chance” by Kerry Blair, we see the second installment of the Nightshade Mysteries series, the first being “Mummy’s the Word.” As we begin the sequel, Samantha Shade is on a stakeout at the old San Rafael mission, watching for the ghost of a dear departed monk. But Sam has nothing to fear, even though it’s late at night – her faithful dog, Clueless, is on hand to protect her. Also nearby is Thom Casey, police. … Continue reading

Monkey See, Monkey Do

If you ask Dr. Drew, MTV’s hit shows “16 and Pregnant” and “Teen Mom” work better than condoms when it comes to deterring high school students from becoming parents long before they are ready. Of course, the good doc is employed by MTV as host of the aforementioned shows’ reunion episodes, so he could be towing the company line. Still, there is no denying the popularity of “16 and Pregnant” and “Teen Mom.” The series has made rock stars out of its teen mothers and it’s no surprise that some claim “16 and Pregnant” and “Teen Mom” actually encourage girls … Continue reading

Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

The Nickelodeon is celebrating its 23rd annual Kids’ Choice Awards (KCAs) on March 28th. Now, I will have to watch because Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) will be hosting, but others will be watching for different reasons. (This image is a work of a U.S. Air Force Airman or employee, taken or made during the course of the person’s official duties. As a work of the U.S. federal government, the image or file is in the public domain.) Some may tune in to see if Chris Brown wins and if he shows up. Brown has been nominated for Favorite Male Singer … Continue reading

Pop Culture Potpourri—Moving On

Did anyone think the strange hook up between comedienne Kathy Griffin and mega-zillionaire Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak would last? Frankly, I seriously doubt either one of them thought they were in it for the long haul. However, I do find the timing of Wozniak’s recent wedding to be quite surprising. According to Griffin, the odd couple split some time ago, but it was just a few weeks ago that she found out that he got married to someone else. Whoa! How’s that for moving on? The comic says, “I got an email last week from him, and he is going … Continue reading

D-List Stars Making News: Kathy Griffin Marries and Nick Lachey Heads Back to School

KATHY GRIFFIN MARRIES The loud-mouthed divorcee has tied the knot again… only she’s not the one wearing the ring. Rather, the sitcom star took on the role of minister and married a real life couple last weekend. Two crazy Kathy Griffin fans reportedly asked the “My Life on the D-List” star to officiate their wedding in New York and naturally the sometime talk show host couldn’t turn down the invitation. According to the 47-year-old comedienne, she was ordained through an online church and completed additional paperwork to meet New York State requirements before happily marrying Brian Anstey and Elka Shapiro. … Continue reading
