You laughed at him on “Saturday Night Live” and laughed with him on Comedy Central, now comedian Al Franken wants you to start taking him seriously. Franken announced Wednesday that he is changing careers and will run for the Senate in 2008. He will be seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge Minnesota’s Republican incumbent Norm Coleman. The former “Saturday Nigh Live” regular made the announcement on the last day of his show on the liberal radio network Air America. Growing up, my after school routine consisted of carefully hanging my school uniform back in the closet, eating a snack, and watching an hour of cartoons on television. My mother allowed us to watch exactly an hour of TV prior to cracking the whip and making me (and my three brothers) complete our homework.
