Summer Lovin’: Cruise and Redstone

So much for the much-hyped Hollywood divorce. It appears mega movie star Tom Cruise and mega movie mogul Sumner Redstone have decided to kiss and make up. You’ll recall the two power brokers parted ways in 2006 after 14 years together. Redstone, the executive chairman and controlling shareholder of Viacom Inc., and Cruise went through a bitter and very public split in the summer of 2006 when the movie guru kicked the actor and his producing partner off the Paramount Pictures lot (Viacom is Paramount’s parent company) and ended their multi-million dollar deal to develop projects for the studio. Well, … Continue reading

Hit Me Baby One More Time

They’re baaaack! Two of Hollywood’s biggest stars are returning to the big screen in roles that gave their egos–and their banks accounts–big lifts. First up, Tom Cruise. Suri’s daddy is planning to flex his muscles again in a fourth Mission: Impossible flick. Several news sources have confirmed that Cruise is heading back to Paramount to make the sequel. In doing so the movie star has presumably made amends with studio mogul, Sumner Redstone, the Hollywood movie bigwig who dropped Cruise’s production company from Paramount a couple years back. The nasty split made headlines and prompted Cruise to revamp the United … Continue reading

SURI THE BREADWINNER Goodness knows she doesn’t need the exposure or the money… Regardless, a rumor has been circulating on the Internet that the adorable spawn of Tom Cruise and his robo-wife Katie Holmes is the new face of Baby Gap. And she may soon have another adorable younger sibling to share the media spotlight with. According to TV’s “Entertainment Tonight,” Katie Holmes says she is ready to have more children. In an interview scheduled to air Monday, the 28-year-old actress says she is “definitely” ready to have more kids. While the rest of us mere mortals gear up to watch “Super Mario” and “Ride, Emmitt, Ride” go toe-to-toe in the “Dancing with the Stars” finale. Super star couple Tom Cruise and fiancée Katie Holmes will be concentrating on more pressing matters this week-—the countdown to their “wedding of the century” (or so it is being dubbed by various media outlets). Tom Cruise’s New Job

I’m sure Katie Holmes is breathing a sigh of relief (wink, wink). Her fiancé, Tom Cruise, should be bringing home even more bacon now that he and producing partner Paula Wagner have been put in charge of United Artists, a film studio that was formed by Hollywood legends including Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford. According to news reports, Wagner will serve as chief executive of the company, which is owned by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., while Cruise will appear in United Artists’ films and also be allowed to star in films from rival studios. Today’s announcement follows Cruise and Wagner’s much publicized … Continue reading

Updates On The Rich And Fabulous

Last week word got out that Giorgio Armani was chosen to create the wedding party’s attire, including the bride’s dress, now we know the exact date Katie Holmes and fiancé Tom Cruise will be donning their designer duds. Cruise’s rep has confirmed that the couple will wed in Italy on November 18th. Those who have been closely following the good looking two-some speculate that the choice of wedding venue in some ways brings Cruise and Holmes full-circle: You’ll remember their first public outing as a couple, in spring 2005, was in Italy. About a year later, the pair welcomed daughter … Continue reading

Show Me The Money

Well, that didn’t take long. Just days after the world learned of the bitter split between Tom Cruise and Paramount Pictures, several news organizations are announcing that the actor has found someone willing to “show him the money.” Yes, Tom Cruise has found a new financial backer for his films. According to Hollywood trade publications, the Mission: Impossible star has struck a deal with “an investment group that includes Daniel M. Snyder, the owner of the Washington Redskins football team.” In addition to owning the Redskins, Snyder is also the chairman of Six Flags, Inc. (One can safely assume that … Continue reading

William H. Macy Sets Lindsay Lohan Straight

I think of William H. Macy as an actor’s actor. He seems to be able to play any character role given to him. From Dr. David Morgenstern as the head of the emergency room in “ER” to the bumbling loser Jerry Lundegaard in Fargo (for which he received an Academy Award nomination), William H. Macy has always not only met my acting expectations, but exceeded them. He is a consummate actor. Now he is lashing out at a young star that seems to have lost her way. At the end of last month, I wrote a blog about Lindsay Lohan … Continue reading

Comedian Jackie Mason is suing the missionary group Jews for Jesus because, well, frankly, he’s too Jewish to be on their brochure. Oh yeah, and they forgot to ask permission to use his image. 9.
