Hollywood Couples Update – October 10, 2012

Every week, Hollywood couples come and go – here are a few for this week: In what seemed like a surprising move to most, actors Danny Devito and Rhea Perlman split after 42 years together. The couple met when Devito was on Broadway in 1971 and moved in together two weeks later. But, it took Devito and Perlman a while to get married – 10 years to be exact. They have three grown children. During their marriage, the couple starred together several times. So, what could have gone wrong? Some tabloids, such as RadarOnline, are reporting sources saying Perlman was … Continue reading

Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward: A Lesson in Long Marriages Hollywood-Style

I didn’t think I was going to have anything to write about Paul Newman’s death here in the Marriage Blog. I figured that’d be something for the girls who cover the Popular Culture Blog to write about. But as I’ve come across all the different tributes to his life, something’s become glaringly clear: Paul Newman was more than an actor, a race car driver, a camp founder, an activist, and a food line entrepreneur. He was a loving, devoted husband, something he seemed to be just as proud of as he was of any of his other accomplishments. Maybe even … Continue reading

More Expensive Hollywood Divorces

In a previous blog I discussed the $2 million payout supermodel Christie Brinkley has been mandated to hand over to her cheating ex-husband Peter Cook. While $2 million may sound a lot to the average person, stats show it’s peanuts compared to what other Hollywood spouses get when they split from their celebrity partners. Typically, the bigger the star, the greater the payout. Don’t believe me? Take a look at the following star couples who landed in divorce court. The payouts the respective spouses were awarded are more than most of us will earn in a lifetime. Harrison Ford vs. … Continue reading

Hollywood Couples: Who’s Sticking it out this Summer?

Brian Austin Green is warning you not to believe the rumors about his relationship with Megan Fox. According to the actor, “everything’s going great” with fiancee Fox. Despite London’s Daily Star reporting that the two recently split when the 22-year-old actress finally “came to her senses” and realized she was too young to marry the 34-year-old former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star. In a new interview with TV Guide, Green says he and Fox are “solid” and after three years living together (Fox apparently moved in with Green when she was 18) they continue to hold each other in high esteem. … Continue reading

Thoughts on Hollywood Couples

After checking the websites, tabloids, and magazines few can doubt that Hollywood is far from being the place for happy and successful marriages. Regardless of what kind of fame you are talking about, famous persons just seem to have a harder time keeping up their relationships. Recently Bay Watch star and beauty Pamela Anderson announced that she has decided to annual her latest marriage. She was only married for eight weeks and then separated. She claims that the marriage was a result of fraud. This is Anderson’s third marriage. Anderson is far from being the only star that has been … Continue reading

Jessica Simpson’s Big Heart

A lot has been written about Jessica Simpson’s big pocketbook (and I’m not talking about the size of her latest, luxury leather Louis Vuitton creation), I’m referring to the millions she raked in as a result of putting her marriage on display on MTV. Simpson and then husband Nick Lachey’s reality show “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica” skyrocketed the pair from mid-range B-listers to one of Hollywood’s hottest A-list couples. Two years ago their relationship bottomed out when Simpson filed for divorce. In the days and weeks that followed the media took aim at the blond beauty’s treatment of Lachey and … Continue reading

Hollywood Couples With Heart

They said it wouldn’t last… in Hollywood “they” tend to be right. But, look beyond the Britney and K-Fed’s, the Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz’s, and you’ll see a core group of Hollywood power couples who make love work. Being that today is Valentine’s Day I thought it appropriate to give those happy pairs sometime ink. Here are just a few of Tinseltown’s star couples with staying power: JERRY AND ANNE Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. They’ve been married for more than 50 years (!!) and recently received a joint star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for their respective … Continue reading

Valentine’s Day In Hollywood—-Celebrity Make Ups and Break Ups

Ah, young love. It can be so fickle… it hurts. (Take it from me, if you are trying to keep up with young love in Hollywood, prepare to suffer from severe whiplash.) To spare you from the neck pain I nurse on a regular basis trying to keep track of who’s “in love,” “just friends,” “taking a break,” or “not together, but still deeply care for each other,” I have compiled a list of celebrity couples who you won’t be seeing dining together this Valentine’s Day and others who despite rumors of the contrary will have someone to send a … Continue reading

Splits, Splits, and more Splits

It’s a revolving marital door in Hollywood, isn’t it? Every week someone is either getting married or divorcing and this week is no different. Two couples that I thought were pretty solid decided to split. The first split announced was that of Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson and director Cameron Crowe. The couple was introduced by Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis in the early ‘80s. Although I’ve seen Crowe’s Fast Times at Ridgement High a billion times, I only recently realized that the “beautiful girl in the corvette” (as she is credited) is Wilson. The couple was married on July 27, … Continue reading

Sean Penn and Robin Wright Back Together Again… and Again

Here they go again. Forget about “Milk,” Sean Penn would have been a huge hit in “Groundhog Day.” Judging by his recent behavior, the leading role wouldn’t have been a stretch (by any means) for the character actor. Just ask his wife Robin Wright Penn, who must be suffering from major whiplash at this point. According to reports, last week Penn pulled a Penn and filed a request to dismiss his legal separation case-—again. This is the second time in less than two years that the actor has rescinded divorce papers. The 48-year-old actor served his 43-year-old wife with walking … Continue reading
