Heath Ledger and Mary Kate Olsen More Than "Just Friends"

It's no surprise that there are more questions than answers in the death of actor Heath Ledger.

A housekeeper and a masseuse found the Oscar nominee's lifeless body Tuesday afternoon in the bedroom of his Manhattan apartment. Since then a preliminary autopsy on Ledger's body came back inconclusive and toxicology test results won't be back for another week. Until then the world will go on speculating about what really killed the 28-year-old father.

At this point it's no secret that police found six types of prescription pills issued in Ledger's name in his apartment following his death. According to police sources, the pills were primarily generic versions of the anti-anxiety medications Xanax and Valium. In addition, two types of sleep aids were also found next to Ledger.

But what is only now coming to light is the reason why Ledger's masseuse called former "Full House" star Mary Kate Olsen twice on the phone AFTER she found Ledger's unresponsive body and BEFORE she dialed 911.

Was it because the female masseuse saw multiple bottles of pills near the actor's body and was afraid to call authorities? Or was it because, as some media outlets are reporting today, that Ledger and Olsen were reportedly dating each other and Mary Kate's phone number was programmed into Ledger's cell phone and she simply hit the speed dial function?

The masseuse is not talking to reporters so we may never know exactly what occurred in the apartment in the moments before emergency crews arrived. However, if you believe the New York Post the 21-year-old actress and Ledger had been romantically involved for the past few weeks. Interestingly though, despite cries from the masseuse, Olsen (who was in California at the time) never once encouraged her to call 911 and get help for her "boyfriend." Instead, Olsen called her security people in New York who reportedly arrived within seconds of the emergency aid workers--exactly seven minutes after the masseuse finally called 911 and roughly two hours after reports say Ledger stopped breathing.

Do you think it's odd Mary Kate didn't prompt the masseuse to call 911 or do you think the incident is being blown out of proportion?

She was probably in shock -- I don't know for sure that I'd react rationally in a situation like that.

I didn't know they'd been dating. I need to hang out in popular culture more often. :)

I saw a whole bunch of different reports about this today: I def think he OD'd (maybe accidentally) but he has been linked to other people with drugs problems, such as Lindsay Lohan, whom he was dating around Thanksgiving, and Mel Brooks.

The only other thing is this: Jack Nicolson (sp?) was quoted saying "I warned him." What was he talking about? His earlier warning about Ambien (he said he almost drove off a cliff while he was taking it), or the fact that playing the Joker in the Batman movies was such an emotional draining part to play? Maybe a little of both, or more I believe.

I agree DivasMomma I think Nicholson's comment probably referred to both, then again he could just be talking for the sake of talking, espcially given his relationship with the media. Thanks for the comment!

And Tristi---I hope you are right, but with young Hollywood party types you just never know what secret pack they've made between the lot of them.

I don't think it's a big deal that she called Olsen to be honest and I don't think it's a big deal that Olsen didn't encourage her to call 911. People are not so bright when faced with emergency situations. I bet the masseuse panicked, didn't realize he wasn't breathing, and didn't know what to do. I'm sure if her exact words to Mary Kate were. . .I'm standing over Heath Ledger's body and he is not breathing. . .the thought of calling 911 would've occurred to them. But I think there tends to be an initial denial when coming face to face with something like that. On a side note, I think it's horribly tacky that the media is so worried about it. The guy is dead. . .let his family grieve in peace. IF there are details to be known, they don't need to know it right now.
